• Converting 1/8 to 1/4 mile times

I don't know if this is true but I found this at http://www.ls1.com/forums/
I was wandering in the drag racing section and one of the guys (moderator) posted a conversion
There is no perfect method for all cars, but this should put you in the ballpark..

1/8 mile ET X 1.545 = 1/4 mile ET

1/8 mile trap speed X 1.25 = 1/4 mile trap speed
So just for the hell of it I tried it with a timeslip in my sig
Keep in mind these are on the bottle
1/8 mile 8.195 x 1.545 = 12.661 estimated
Real et was .............12.863
1/8 mile 83.75 x 1.25 = 104.69 estimated
Real mph was............104.91
We know nitrous generates a lot of torque so that might explain the difference in et but I hope this helps.
Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6
nitrous et & mph: 12.168 & 110.95 mph, n/a 13.746 & 96.38 mph
2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8: 12.125, 116.45
2010 Ford Taurus SHO: no times yet

That method puts you in the ball park, but out in left field ;) I have the conversion chart in my NHRA tech books. I will find them and post them. No method of conversion will be perfect because of different car types and mods but they get you close and are always a little fast :D

We wuld need our own multiplication factors. Our cars act differently than LS1's. They have great top end while ours is not so great.

Thats because youre running 1:1 with 3.23's in the rear.

Many of us automatics still have 3.42:1 reduction in the rear when our tranny is at 1:1 - which helps us along quite nicely .

With my fastest, 1/8th mile, it gives me a 15.650, thats tied for the fastest N/A 3.4L camaro, and 1st, for fastest N/A 3.4L on street tires.

Too bad it drizzled that day and they stopped the 1/4 and switched to the 1.8th. :(
