ok tommorow i'm hitting the track . i was wondering what would happen if i took off my serpentine belt in the staging lane right before i run.. i can pop it off in like 30 seconds. this could free up some nice hp, cause the motor doesn't have to run the power steering, alternator, water pump, etc. this would only be for the 1/8. will this harm my car at all..

my guess is you will blow your motor or crack your block from the heat being thatthe engine wont have the water pump working, even though its 1/8 i wouldnt do it. go get an electric water pump hee hee

I thought about doing it at the track Sunday but its too risky.

If everything goes smoothly I do think you could pick up .1 doing this.. but you also risk blowing a head gasket... The coolant temps inside the engine could reach well over 250+ degrees. If it starts to boil, the coolant will find an escape route somewhere and it might not be in such a easily fixable spot, like between the upper and lower intakes.
