  • Seriousely! What does my car do in the 1/4 mi?

I dont have the opertunity to race it but I keep geting asked what it does and I dont know what to say. It has 12,000miles, 3:08 open rear, A4 and 50/16 tires ( the better ones that come standard on the Z) The only thing I have done to it is the "Free Ram Air" mod, a K&N filter and I rased the airbox with 3 washers under each screw (for what ever all this is worth)
My last car was a Z24 Cavalier with the 2.8 V6 and that thing screamed compaed to this car.

I do not trust myself enough to get into gears and stuff, I want to work with what I got.

I would say 15.8-15.9 in the 1/4.Get some Exhaust, 3.42's and Lsd man. Youll run around 15.3-15.4 then.My car is stock with Y87 package from the factory and I run 10.000 in the 1/8, 9's if I can get it right.

I know where you are coming from. It is your gears.

3.42s would make a huge difference.

I have a 3.4L with 3.42's and it feels (not is) much faster than any of the 3.8L's I have test drove (that had 2.73's or whatever).

if you're serious about knowing it's 1/4 mile stats, the only way to know for sure is to run it at the track. you got 3 NJ tracks to choose from. Island Dragway, Englishtown and Atco. run it.

if not then just say you don't know.

If you want to find out how fast it runs the 1/4, I suggest you take it to the track and find out. Next best thing would be to G-Tech it, but that's not exactly what one would call "accurate."

Yes, but 96 t-top bird your car must be responding really well to that ram air hood & other modds, or is a super light weight, b/c your time is faster than the average 3.08 equipped f-body. Most 3.08's run high 15's if not 16's. Anyone hitting mid 15's in 3.08's is pretty good.

                    Just fyi

                    My best g-tech was a 15.53 @ ??
At the track was a 15.67 @ ?? got the timeslip around here somewhere.

black drop top: i hit a 15.7 at 88MPH stock with my 3.08's for my FIRST TIME at the track. either i have a good car, or i just know drive my auto-matic. i can't wait to get back to the track to see what i can get out of an intake and full cat-back. i'm looking for a low 15.

Ram air hood is just a hood, it is no functional. Only thing it does is look good and also drops weight in the front.

Only weight reduction i did was spair tire/jack, passenger seat, and back seats.

Also weather plays a huge role. I ran the car in around 60 degree weather which is nice and cool. I know i'd hit even lower if it was 30 degrees (which im hoping one day i'll be able to do)

And what the elevation of the track is plays a huge role also.

But just stating what my times are, what i have done, and what "could" be expected. Take it to the track and LET IT RIP~
