Well eugene, there are different factors that will make the difference. It really deepends on road or track conditions, what tires your running, etc. In my personal experience, i've notice that if my tires are hookin real good, i will dump the clutch..sometimes from first through the rest of the gears or sometimes from 2nd on. again it really depends on conditions. But if your tires are hookin I say dump the clutch and your car should jump out in front. Atleast my car does. Although my tires are pretty wasted so I have to be alittle more careful now not to spin out.

I went the other day..but it was a bad day overall. It was just sort of spontaneous. Didnt remove all the weight and stuff like that...didnt even check my tire pressure right. Weather sucked really bad. Temp was almost 70, humidity was at 87%...tryin to hook was hard that night because although the temp was dropping there was so much humidity that dew started settling on the track. It was my first time, i managed a lousy 15.5. I ran the car once and my brother ran it another. That first run was just so I can get used to the track and what goes on when your behind the line. I accidentally hit my rev limiter on 3rd so that slowed me down. I need a tach w/ shift light bad!! I didnt even get in line anymore. Oh well next time there is good weather I know for sure I will break the 14's.

At the end of the day I didnt feel so bad because I talked to a guy with a 2000 Trans-Am and he only raked in a 15.4. I tell you it was a bad night. The only guys hooking up more or less, were the ones with slicks. To top it off..they were having computer and tree problems. Oh yeah and I almost forgot...i need new tires bad also!! Last time I ran the car I was on drag radials & track prep was decent, so I just dumped the clutch at 3k.

Some of my fastest and most consistent runs were done with drag radials heated nicely and a 3K clutch dump. If the track prep is good, I usually hook pretty good and run consistent 9.4's - 9.5's in the 1/8.
