Probably somewhere in the 17's. If you get lucky maybe somewhere in the 16's. Good Luck though. And dont worry first time is mostly always high. First time out, take it easy on the car.
Ease it off the line.
Once your comfy on the track, rev up to about 2k rpms (no higher, not going to help any), and ease into the throttle on your launch (slam it if your tires can take it).
Go on the 3rd yellow, not the green. Don't anticipate 3rd yellow, just go when you see it. Will help with the reaction time.
Stay out of the water box, drive around it at all costs. On radial tires, lower to 25-30 psi (whatever works best, don't go below 25 though), and only do a quick spinoff on the line to clear off dust. My "burnouts" last for a couple seconds, that's it. Anymore and your just shaving off rubber on a tire that will not heat up. Z rated can be an exception, so experiment if you have z or higher ratings.
Never turn around on the track, there is always another turn off lane farther up the road if you miss one.
Don't worry about being embarrased, your going to get beat by some car or another. Hehehe, I have raced everything from trucks, to rice, to rx-7's, to built up 12 second cars.

When you get in the stageing lanes, get out of your car and go watch the tree as often as you can, it will give you a feel for it before you get there. Whatch the stageing light and try to get a feel for the trigger man. This can be anausome advatage, most of them are predictable on when they hit the button....2 count 3 count etc. If you have a standard dont worry to much about the burn-out. I dont rev at all I just stage early and mash it on the last yellow, dont just "dump" the clutch let it out fast but be ready to slip it if the tires roast too much. Dont woory about the guy next to you unless its for money or an actual race. If you are just run'n on a "test-n-tune" keep in mind its practice. Oh yeah dont forget to breath, I about passed out on my first run.I have made a lot of money in my life, most of which I spent on cars and women.<p>The rest I have blown.
