• stock? 98' V6 5spd 100 in the 1/4?

Take'n bets.....I have what should be a stock 98 bird V6/5 spd. Seat of the pant tells me I should be close to 100mph in 4th at 5,000 rpm. What are the odds? Just runn' through the gears 3rd and 80 mph at 4,000 come real quick. Anybody wanna take a guess? I may have to go friday night and find out.

I have a 2000 manual firebird. When it was stock I ran a 15.6 @ 89.xx mph. I doubt that a stock firebird will run over 91 mph.

Here is my bet! If you think you are gonna run a 100 mph trap you are gonna be REAL disappointed. What do I win?

Wow I didnt realize how slow our cars are....So Nobody thinks I should even breack 90? I bought this car used from a guy who bought it at a auction......It came from texas and you know how those texans are, maybe its not totaly stock. I know I can hit 80 in third real easy (I have never floored it) and 100 in fourth. You guys dont take this as braggn' but it does feel fast.

The problem is not how fast it will go in each gear, an auto will go over 120 in 3rd gear, the problem is how quickly it can get there and when you go to a drag strip you are gonna realize just how short 1/4 mile is.

This isnt my first rodeo, I am no stranger to the strip(or the street), I just havent taken my firbird out yet for the hard #'s. I guess I can head down to thunder valley next friday to see what she has. If anybody would like to meet me there that would be cool. I am talking about the strip in Noble, Oklahoma. I will be in a 98' dark blue( almost purple under street lights) T-Top firebird.
FYI-----> I once ran a 11.80 at 97mph.

i can see you running 11.80 at 97 for 2 reasons one either you let off towards the end or 2 your car has the perfect setup gearing and everything else wise but not that much hrsp mph is an indicator of hrsp your et indicates traction. magnus ran low 13 and had an 8o something trap because he let off at the 1/8

You hit on the head I let off because I looked over and no one was beside me. I thought I had broke out or he just broke one. Turns out I should have stayed in it because he came by like whoosh. I lost by .006 on a dial in. That was a rookie mistake I never made again.

Cool they have dial ins at your track?

Check out my sig for my dad's car time, I didn' get a very good run, I think a 15.6 is very possible in his car.

I am in 3rd and going 85ish, and in 4th I cna hit the rev limiter at 118 when i had my 3.23s at 4500 RPMs.

As it has been stated, not a chance....... ;)

That is what my GTP is trapping at, and I have a blower and other mods.

Just as KillerBeeCamaro said, in a stock 3.8 5spd, you wont need to hit 4th before the 1/4. I run pretty much stock, 15.3 @91-92mph and i never hit 4th.
