• dissapointing :(

oh well. well i ran a new best, but definately not as good as i thought it would be.
i got 4 runs in before i got bored and was afraid i was going to kill my car, plus all of my friends left.

i'll put them up in order as i ran them...

worst
r/t: .605
60': 2.574
1/8: 10.362 MPH: 70.70
1/4: 15.879 MPH: 88.92

best
r/t: 1.078
60': 2.410
1/8: 10.145 MPH: 70.99
1/4: 15.654 MPH: 89.02

r/t: .912
60': 2.422
1/8: 10.191 MPH: 70.91
1/4: 15.700 MPH: 88.97

r/t: .811
60': 2.393
1/8: 10.149 MPH: 70.76
1/4: 15.672 MPH: 88.64

so i'm kinda mad. i ran a 15.7 @ 88MPH for the very first time i went to the track and i was either stock and just had an intake. i forget. and now i have a full exhuast and i can only muster up a 15.6. i definately need to hook up. i need to work on my launching skills and warming up the tires a little bit. my car wasn't burning out at all. and when it did i looked like an idiot with the one wheel and all.
oh well. i have like 1g coming to me real soon, but i have to buy a p.a. system with it. if i threw that in my car i would have a 14 second car for sure. oh well. all in due time.

*edit* i fixed my time for my best 1/8th mile MPH. oh yea, and my car is an auto and i ran in full street trim. didn't even take my subs out.

ya those 60's are killin you!!

Might sound stupid but this might work those 60's

Wait for a few people to race, hopefully someone in front of u will spin out...then u can kinda like try to place your tire in the same spot he had (it will be all sticky) therefore you will hook A LOT better. (heard someone else post about that earlier)

Also, not sure on what u did, but weight reduction! does wonders!

Ur trap is nice, u should be in mid to lower 15's SOON...keep it up.

Congrats!

oh ya

also on ur "BEST" run, i think u messed up a lil.
I belive that 1/8 mph should be 70mph? not 60mph right? Just noticed that.

60'

Here is how to launch in an auto.

Before I start, remember this. There are plenty of ways to launch and it *feel* faster than what I'm going to describe (like mashing the pedal). However, although this might feel slow, I have gotten my best 60' in this manner.

Keep tire pressure to about 28-30 psi in the back. When you get up to the staging area, avoid the water box & do a quick spinoff of the tires. Nothing more (1-2 second burnout).

Now, get up to the line, position the car, and rev up to 1.8-2k rpms (no more!). Then, when its time to go, ease onto the gas. You shouldn't be at wot until about a second after the race starts.
If you have traction, mashing the pedal will be faster, but I never have been able to get it.

yes he's right...but I mashed the pedal after revving to 1,700RPM and I've got 0.012sec slower than strobhen. You'd be surprised as to how much quicker that car will launch. Good luck next time.

thanks for the help and replys guys. i was trying to get it to rev up to 2k, but i couldn't get positioned and rev it up fast enough before the tree would start to go :( . thats why my r/ts are so bad because i was trying to concentrate on my position of rpms. i was avoiding the water box, too. i didn't even think about checking tire pressure. next time i will. i think next time i race it will be at the AIS. since cecil county is only 20 minutes from my house. . one time while i was trying to do a quick burnout my tires weren't budging(sp?) and i heard a big clunk in my rear and i said to hell with that. i think thats when i ran my best...hmm. i would get a new rear end soon, but my valve seals are leaking and my power steering hose is leaking. ugh. so there goes around 200$.
thanks for the info again though.

Definitely check the tire pressure!! I can bet your rear tires were set at about 35psi. Check this: Last night I went to the track, first run I left the rear tires at like 32psi, ran a 15.7 with a 2.4 60'....very next run I lowered it to 25psi and ran a 15.0 with a 2.1 60'. It makes a big difference!!

oh yea and make sure you line up quickly (like before the guy in the other lane does) and you'll have plenty of time to setup for the launch One run I didn't have time and I just slammed the pedal...squealled most of the 60' with a 2.2 - 2.3 area with a 15.7 :(
