• E.T.'s here "I told you so's" welcome

First let me say I only ran three times. I went to check tire pressure and the ol'lady made me leave (it was cold). The results are dissapointing but here they are.
R/T 60' 330' 1/8 mph 1/4 mph
.649 2.773 7.122 10.76 68.19 16.613 83.85
.604 2.623 6.879 10.474 68.60 16.257 86.78
.537 2.403 6.816 10.479 68.00 16.166 86.23
I know there are better times but for the first three I can show improvement. I also one the first two runs, the first was a 66 fastback that was sweet(he red lighted) the second was a ricer who ran 15.837 but only cut a 1.126 light. The third race was a full blown drag car that flat smoked me (11.931) but I beat him on the line also my .537 to his .709.
Now before I get to many of the I told you so's, you gotta know, I realy think I could have gotten to a 15.80. I didnt do any burn out, I didnt rev the motor, and I didnt get to adjust the tire pressure sooo... oh yeah the little woman made us leave way too early. OK guys let me have it.

Fix your 60'. You have to give it the gas when the light turns green you know! :D I can run the 60' faster. (on foot I mean) j/k

You should be getting hi 15s at least. Don't be afraid to give it throttle. Try brake torquing

btw, hope I didn't offend you the first time when I said I can run the 60' faster...I mean on foot...not my car!

hey man at least your honest. i'm sorry i couldn't make it out there.i was on my way out and i got in a wreck my buddy said to me that my tires are bald and i shouldn't go out there but, i didn't listen. i was going around a on ramp and when i sped up to merge w/ the next highway, my car started to fish tail and since i was going about 50 i didn't regain control. i hit the wall at about 20 and it fooked up my nose piece and fenders. so now i'm getting it fixed and the whole car repainted.

I see a lot of good there in you r/t, those are actually pretty good.

Spin the tires off, no burnouts...

Rev up to about 2k rpms & then ease onto the throttle.

That alone should help a lot.

Let me ask this because I never encountered it before, when it comes time for the burn out or to just spin the tires a little.......I have a standard, now I've raced alot of motorcycles and the burn out is easy you just hold the front brake, and I've raced some auto's pretty much the same but, I only have two feet and there are three pedals oh god I sound like a goober Ah hell light the flames boys I gotta learn sometime! P.S. Sorry to hear about the crash rob I hope you dont hold me responsible!

Hey slow-n-ugly. I can tell your new at racing manuals huh? You dont need to use your brake with a manual..just use the clutch. Hold the clutch, rev up your engine alittle(you will figure out how much rev works best with your car with time), dont hold the clutch all the way down..just to the point the car wants to go but it doesnt. With practice your 60' times should improve. The first and only time I went to the track I got a 60' of 2.1. I cant remember my 1/4..and I lost the slip :( But anyway..If your car is hooking real well give it more throttle of the line...if not, depending on conditions you might have to feather the clutch and/or give it throttle gradually when you launch. ;)

As far as on the strip w/ a standard goes yes I am new to it. I have a 67 elky with a mild 350 and a 2spd glide, and I have raced bikes all my life, but as far as a timed drag strip with a clutch----> holy crap! Leaving the line isnt so hard just the burn out.

Unless you have slicks...dont worry about a burnout..just spin'em alittle to clean them. Just dump the clutch alittle and you should spin. Press the clutch again and ease the throttle to stop..simple. Say you did have to do a burnout...dump the clutch and give it an aggressive throttle.

my car I rev it drop ease clutch then stomp on the brake and let it go after about a second, gives it a good cleaning.

Rev it higher and ease the clutch out. You have room for imporvement. I ran basicqally the same times as you in a stock 2000 5-speed camaro, but on the 4th one I hit a 15.875(in the sig). You jsut need practice at the track, I had lots of track practice with my 3.4L but my dad's 2k is a completely different car, clutch grabs way different and torque curve is very differnt.

YOu got room for imporvement you could easily hit a 2.2XX 60' and I think that would get you in the 15.8s

To warm up the tires I rev the car up then drop the clutch and then quickly put on the brake a little. When I start to move forward I left off of the gas. When I take off I rev up to about 3000 or 3500rpms and feather the clutch. I still haven't been able to get below a 2.2 0-60 but I also have an open rear and 215 tires :(
Hope this helps!
