  • i wanna beat a mustang

    if theres is a fairly new if not brand new 3.8 auto and mine is a 3.4 auto how much do i have to do to be able to beat em???
    3.4 white 95 firebird<br />K&N air filter <br />dynomax muffler

    id say get about every bolt on in the book and get some gears and LSD..

    the automatic stangs without mods are close to being 16 sec cars..you will need to out drive him and mod some more..

      Well, I'd say give the car 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and you outta be in the clear, if you get desperate though just floor it. [img]graemlins/burnout.gif[/img] :D :D

      Doh, wait, you gotta 3.4L, nm, lol. Yeah, like Jeffy said, get some intake stuff, exhaust, etc and you should be able to keep up with him or beat him.

        for some reason the auto's slow the Mustang's down way moreso then any other car. My mom has a V6 5-speed that felt every bit as fast, if not faster, then my Supra. but then I raced an auto, and crushed it. just a little fyi

          They arnt fast, now if its an auto, they will be consistance everytime, all they do is push the pedal..

          i raced my gf's 98 3.8 a number of times and she never beat me.. came close (what do you expect, i had a burtn clutch and a clogged cat)

            remeber 98- is the lesser engine like 145, or 150 HP something like that and the 99+ are 195 Hp. They run low 16s, maybe even high 15s, I see them generally run low 16s, a guy with a CAI on a 2000 auto ran a 16.2 at the track, but if its a 5-speed watdch out.

            like they said, make a CAI or buy one, and get good exhasut system, and maybe some gears.

              The new ones make 193hp...not 195. However they do make the same torque as us...225. Either way, they're still slower. [img]smile.gif[/img] Never met a stang driver who can drive...well maybe one.

                it's not that stang drivers can't drive. they just have a very inefficient drivetrain. auto's dyno ~140 at the rear wheels, manual's ~150.
                autos for the fbodies dyno ~160, manuals dyno anywhere from 160-170

                  you should see my friend's V6 stang...he kicks the **** out of mine and all he has is a cutout. Dynos near 175RWHP...and his car is lighter...factory freak kicks the crap out of my car :( I learned the hard way the 1st time I ran him. BTW, it's a stick and that is the ONLY V6 stang I ever lost to.
