• 1/4 mile times with 200rwhp?

Hey guys I have a 1997 Camaro (as you can see in my signature). Now everyone that I talk to says that I should have about 168-170rwhp to run the times I ran. Plus that seems to be what the average stock car is pushing to the wheels. Now lets say I were able to just get to 200-210rwhp. What do you all think I could run in the 1/4? I know I could look at some of the 1/4 to HP calculators, but I wasn't sure if I should put rear wheel HP or flywheel HP. Thanks for the help. My friend's turbo eclipse ran 14.5 and he dynoed 208RWHP so I'd say with 200-210RWHP you'd still get the same 14.5 since our cars can launch better than they can

WOW!!! Now that would be nice. I mean I would be happy with just a high 14 like a 14.8x-14.9x. But a possible 14.5x I could live with that. :D Thanks for the reply man. Also how much do our cars weigh on average with a 142lbs. driver?

It will take a good ammount of mods to bump you up to 200-210rwhp... that's 30-40hp. How mod-mod happy are you because I notice you're stock?? I don't think it would be very hard to get the 3.8 to that level and a lot of people here already have but it all comes down to how stock you'd like to remain...

oh and if it helps...my car was rated 174RWHP off G-tech...yea I know it can be innaccurate, but it's a rough estimate..if that helps...compare the RWHP to my sig...dunno? just a thought

RWHP Does not have as much to do with your ET as you might think.

A lot has to do with traction, weight of the car, the driver, basically your entire setup. Just because you have 200 rwhp doesn't mean you'll do 14.5 or a 15 or anything. What if you go to the track and spin all the way though the 60' you might get a 15.9.

There are a lot of variables.

You are talking about a GSX right? Cuz if not he has no HP at the rear wheels.

Well, it is true that RWHP does not have as much to do with your ET as you might think (like Bass482 said). But without the HP doesn't matter how good your suspension is to hook up to the ground is you will never run the times you want. The same goes for a car that has big HP but no suspension. You can have all the HP in the world but unless it goes to the ground its useless. Take for example my 1969 Camaro. With the 427 I went 9.80@140mph. Now without the slicks and the suspension I have I would have never seen the times I did. But without good HP I would have still never seen the times.

nope GS-T...and FWHP...if that makes it sound better...it's front wheel drive and that's why I stated above that they can't launch off the line very well...GSX...different story

for now, the quickest way to the 1/4 is off the line traction. wider tires, lsd, lca's, and 1LE swaybars may help shave off a tenth or two, at least. these will just enhance the power mods later on. more power=harder to hook up.

Yes but keep in mind his MPH at those times: 96 if I remember correctly. I think he was having traction issues.

Actually, I KNOW he was having traction issues... I was in the lane next to him. ;)

i dont put too much into dyno numbers. for every car, the dyno numbers dont necessarily give you a good estimate on what you would run. look in my sig., i have 176 rwhp and i went 14.7. if i had 200 rwhp who knows what i would run. its different for every car.
