Lift Bars?

I found some traction action lift bars made by Lakewood at www.racenet.net Do those replace the control arms? Would they help get better traction than new control arms? $259.00 sounds kind of expensive.

I don't believe we need or can use those since we dont have a full frame and aren't using leaf springs - sorry.

yup, we can't. we run w/ a torque arm/coil-spring setup. only trucks use leaf springs now. those traction action lift bars only help on leaf springs.

I looked at the lift bars again and it is posted as fitting 1982-2000 camaro firebird. I don't think you need leaf springs for these lift bars.
It looks as if they just replace our control arms and connect to the axel. they are in the shape of a triangle. I am still confused Any replies would be great. Thanks.

I seriously the doubt they replace the entire control arm.

I'm not surprised they've developed one for our coil setup (why not, since leaf springs are a thing of the past for cars).

I imagine you bolt it around the control arm/rear spring somehow (didnt look at it). Although these aren't the things for handling and they can cause some pre-wear on your rear suspension I imagine.

Another thing... traction bars are really more for curing wheel hop more than anything ( acommon probelm with leaf springs). And unless these address different problems encountered with coil springs (aka, no traction at all [img]smile.gif[/img] then I wouldnt bother.

those lift bars are made specificly for 4th gen f-bodys, howevor I don't know if they replace the lower control arms.....theres only on way to find out

From what I can tell, I think they look like they replace the control arms. If you look at the picture of them, they use the lakewood LCA's in the design. The round piece then bolts around the axle tube. I guess they keep the rear end from twisting fore and aft. Seems to me that they would be a drag race only thing, not good for street, and probly horrible for handling.
