• D or OD

I want to know if I should leave it in D or OD in a race! Thanks for the help. A4 3.8L with 3.08's.

doesn't really matter...I put it in D. If I'm going for a high speed race (rarely done by me) I'll keep it in D because once I start to pass 110 it shifts to 4th gear...keeping it in D will allow it to stay in 3rd all the way to revlimiter which is 118.

I have one question on this subject. I have noticed when I leave my car in drive or overdrive it will **** out of 2nd at about 5600rpm (about 77mph) and go into 3rd. Now if I leave it in 2nd and run it to about 5800rpm and shift it will go into 3rd at about 6000rpm (about 85mph). Will I see a quicker 1/4 if I run it to 6000 in second and let it climb longer in a lower gear? Sorry to ask such a stupid question but I was just wondering.

at WOT the pcm is calculating best shift points because it knows you want to GO. why else would you be at WOT? i'd let the computer process hunreds of commands the second before the shift and make the shift for me. after all, it knows what it's planning on doing enginewise after the shift.

Silver97Camaro...that's kinda odd. If I leave it on D or OD this is how my shifting goes...

1-2 @5600RPMs (the hashed red lines)...about 40MPH
2-3 @6000RPMs (the real redline)...about 75mph
3-4 @5000RPMs (only if left in OD)...about 111MPH
or else if I'm in D it'll stay in 3 til revlimiter of 118.

In terms of doing the trick of leaving it in 2 at the track...don't try it...if you hit revlimiter it will hurt your time tremendously
