• want to run low 15's NA! suggestions?

ive got a bone stock 97. I average between high 15.70's and 16 sec runs. The inconsistancy is i think to be blaimed on old tires, no LS diff, and the constantly changing weather here in NC as of late.
the mods i have down on my list to be done are:
1. Limited slip out of a Z28 w/ 3.42(have 3.08 now)
2. New tires(suggestions pls?) may also spring for some drag radials(anyone have any for sale?)
3. SLP CAI
4. CAT back exh. system,(suggestions)

but i wanna have a low 15 sec car b4 i add nitrous. Theres a lot of tuner imports around here and i wanna be able to hang with them and the stock pre 98 Z's at the track.

Those modds will probably do the thrick. Alot of 3.8's can hit high 14's w/ basic bolt-ons & proper gearing. You probably won't even need drags for low 15's.

the main reason i was considerin drags was the fact that my track doesnt take to well to street tires. I spin like crazy as it is(but i think the LSD will help that some too)

the mods you have listed there should definitly be all that you need to get into the low 15's. with some really good air you might crack into the 14's. like stated earlier i dont think you need drags at all, but you would know your track better that i would though. good luck with the mods

Slp cai, 255-50-ZR16 Yoko's or Kumho's, GMMG 3" cat-back, LSD w/ 3.42's, removed maf screen. the 3.42's will give you hella better 60 ft. compared to the 3.08's. the 255 tires will grip enough w/ the lsd as well as keep the sidewall ht. the same. I'd suggest getting a slp"loudmouth" exhaust if you want a lot of power, don't care about how it sounds, and don't care how loud it is. if you do care, get the GMMG. I've heard sound clips and i like what I've heard.

Hey Patrick Javert. I have been able to listen to the sound clip of the GMMG Exhaust but it was on a V-8. Did you hear a clip on a V-6? If so where did you hear it at? Thanks

I didn't hear it on a 6 yet. i imagine it'll sound higher pitched than a V8, and may not be as loud.

Anything can be fabricated to fit. I think the kit goes on after the stock y-pipe on the ls1's, so it may not have to be modified much. also, get a 3" in/out cat if possible. when you do headers, that'll be the only thing left that is restictive in the exhaust stream.

also get a 1 piece drive shaft that will give you a gain of about 4 mph in the 1/4. Just ask W68Firebird97 he did it and dropped like 2 tenths.

I have the SLP 2 on the left on my car. Sounds nice, IMHO. Its just a hair louder(deeper) at idle, probably wouldn't know it if it wasn't your car. Its a little deeper at cruise and at WOT.

It definitely doesn't sound ricey.
