• Why is my car so slow?

Went to the track today and got 6 runs in.
Here's the best one:
r/t:.711
60':2.353
660':10.661
e.t.: 16.640 @ 82.188 mph.

I was hoping to do a little better, maybe break into the 15's.
Anyone with a 3.4 in the 15's please tell me what kind of mods you have.

what gear are u running, that may have a lot to do with it.
i know with my 97 camaro that has the 3.8L. My car is bone stock. Ive got about 10 runs on this car and i have only gotten sub 16 sec runs 3 times.
Theres a lot of variables in drag racing, could be the weather. Cars dont like the heat or humidity. It may be a lil easier to figure this out with some more specific onfo ony our car...

don't feel bad about it. my car's best time before the high flow cat and 2.75 i-pipe was 16.6. never ran the car w/ the new exhaust work at the same track. 3.4's are just slow cars.

The rear is stock so I think they're 3.23's.

Yeah. I know, but I see a lot of 3.4's on the timeslip page running 15's n/a.

NA just means no NOS and/or no Super Charger. There are tons of mods that can be done to a car and it still be considered NA. Ive asked around and sounds like your times are pretty close to right for what uve done. It can take a few mods to get a 3.4 runnin in the low 16's or high 15's.

Got anymore questions IM me at: rockcamaro97
I have a few friends that are racing 3.4's and if i can t help u im sure they can.

hmm... Practice I guess.

I pulled a 15.913, with my stock 3.23s, open rear end, stock 2 piece driveshaft, my wires, plugs, homemade CAI, exhaust, only did it once and averaged low 16s.

with the mods, minus the STB and sway bars, I have now I hit a 15.696, and average 15.8-15.9. That info is in the Sig.

3.4's may be a little slower than wanted, but damn, ain't they purty. at least after you get rid of the flower power stock wheels.

Yeah I guess.
What got me pissed about my times though was reading this month's CAR and DRIVER, in the back they list all the cars they've tested recently and their 1/4 times.
Here's a few (in no particular order):

Chevy Trailblazer LT: 16.3
Ford Escape XLT: 16.3
Ford F-150 4x4: 16.7
Honda CR-V EX: 16.6
Hyundai Sonata: 16.7
Jeep Cherokee Sport: 16.5
Oldsmobile Bravada: 16.1

There are about 200 cars/trucks of all types and price ranges listed in the mag and I'm not gonna type em all out, but the above listed ones caught my eye. I'm runnin' the same times as SUV's ...WTF????????

I thyink practice, make sure everythings rnnign fine on the car too. It think oyu could hit a lower time, like a 16.4 with your mods. Soem gears may benefit you.

Was it your first time at the track? My first time I ran a best 9.2 (1/8) in the Z and I thought "My car must suck".I went back a week later with nothing else done to the car and I was running 8.8's and 8.9's all night long.It just takes a lot of practice to drop the 60' and ET's.Don't get discouraged. Also only run in summer for the practice.Wait until nice 50* weather to try and get your best times.Good luck.
