• My first time at the track! Oh, yeah!

Well guys, I finally did it! My very first time!
And my best time was:
Reaction: 0.8617
60 FT: 2.4758
330 FT: 6.8703
1/8 ET: 10.5351
1/8 MPH: 67.80
1/4 ET: 16.1869
1/4 MPH: 86.42
Ambient temperature 90-91 degrees Farenheit. I got this time in my very first race. Afterwards a few guy came over to me, because they knew that I had a six. They wanted to know what I had to run that time with the temperature and humidity. I got much props from everyone there. Lots of encouragement. I was cheesin' from ear to ear.

So, what do ya think for a novice with 3.08s :D
My best reaction time was 0.6868, and my best 1/4 MPH was 87.05. Besides reaction time, better tires and a better rear end, what else should I work on? Pointers? No more street races for me! Well, maybe not.

Oh, I beat a 97 LT1 because he red lighted. You know, his best time against me was 15.3209. That's when I got my best time. I beat a 67 mustang (show quality) with a 302 in it. And, I lost to a Honda Civic that ran 14.6871 to my 16.2362 It was a great time! Can't wait to start all over again tomorrow!

Not to dog you at all, but your car is faster than that with your mods. Even with ambient temperatures it should break the 15's. Where I live it is humid and hot even at night, (high 80's) and im still hitting 15.7 consistently. i know with colder temperatures i can probably hit a mid 15. But like i said, you have a good intake and exhaust system and probably all the free mods. Just keep trying it out, youll break the 16's for sure. and then you will really see their jaws drop when you hit that high 14 or 15 flat on motor. Watch out 97 LT1, here he comes.

No problem, Supersix! I'll keep working on it. Maybe I'll get lucky tomorrow. To be honest with you, I thought that I would get no less than a 15.8.

turn that almost 2.5 60' to a 2.2, and you are hitting below 15.8s.

Hey man, we'll all be out there to join you tomorrow. I heard Temple is a hard track to hook at, so you can compare your times to ours. I left Austin around 2am and headed back up to College Station to sleep. Man we had a blast tonight, Ross, Jeff, Kris, Chris, and Kyle are all sleeping at the Motel 6 right now, hehe. we'll cya tomorrow! its ford vs. chevy, woohoo!

Ummm, ya. You were racing at the Temple-Academy Dragway in Holland, Tx right? Don't feel bad about your times. You can not hook worth a damn at that track!! My best 60' was a 2.4X and I had about 8-9 runs. My best ET was 15.7X @ 88.XXmph. That is .4 off my best with 17's on. If I could of actually hit a 2.1X like I normally do then I could have pulled a 15.1-15.2 easily. Next time you want to go drag racing make the trip to Baytown and race at HRP, you won't regret it!

At Temple they just dump water out in front of you before you go by and you have no way of avoiding it, therefore causing your front tires to get wet and leave tracks for your rear tires to spin through. Not a good system they have goin on. I spun 2nd gear everytime and I'm an automatic!! (i do have a shift-kit, but i never spin anywhere else, just a little chirp)

I don't know if anyone new bought the track, but some renovations were done to it (track surface). I didn't notice all of the bumps that people use to complain about. Trees were not a problem around the track.

I have no track experience, but if I had to guess, I think that the problems lie with there being no way to avoid water, and the fact that it get pretty dirty after a couple of hours. You can barely get traction after that. My new Kumhos just arrived, so hopefully that will help me some. Thinking about get one of those oil/tranny coolers too. That thermo doesn't help much when you're just sitting there.
I don't know, it may be the same at all tracks, but I really think that they should do a "time out" and clean it some. The rubber real piles up.
