    OLD TIMESLIPS:
I just drug out two older timeslips that were before the install of the headers and the loss of cat.

    I'm baffled:

    330' -- 6.4163
    1/8 ET -- 9.8727
    1/8 MPH -- 72.06
    1000 ET -- 12.7984
    1000 MPH -- 83.45

    NEW SLIPS:
    Ran 3 Times, Last 2 Times I was timed @ 1/4.
    Street Tires.
    Comments, suggestions?

Iam not about to accept what is going on. Anyone have any ideas why my times basically improved none?
I guess I should go again and make more runs just to make sure, but the temp/humid wasn't bad at all on the second go round... and as you can see, I got a much better 60' on one of the runs (granted I did hit the rev limiter on that run)...

So - think the loss of cat w/ addition of 02 Sensor has screwed with backpressure and computer?

    I'm at a loss.

I can't really understand what happened in the 3rd run... Your 1/8 time is better than your 2nd run, and it should shift into 3rd right around that time, so it seems like your 1st and 2nd gears weren't hurting your time. What happened to cause the 76mph trap? That 3rd run looked like it had a 15.1-15.2 in it.

except that 3rd run (which could have been a hi 14 lo 15 time) I think your car is running fine. Similiar times to me.

I say disappointing because of the headers I just added and the big seat of the pants feel it added.

Then again, Springfield is also about 1600ft above sea level.

I dunno. Probably expecting too much.

          Mods:

Whisper Lid, K&N, CIA Headers, no cat, 3" S-Pipe & 3" all the way back to muffler, 3:42 gearset, 5 spd.

I was hoping for abit more than a 15.3... then again, I only ran 3 times. My 1000' improved by .1 each run (last run was ****ed up in the 1.4 for some reason)

Does being 1600 feet above sea level affect it at all?

don't want to rub you the wrong way, but I think it may be your shifting.

Make sure your shifting at about 5200-5600 rpm.

Your MPH is low for a manual.

About being 1600 feet above, yes, that will effect it some, I would guess about .2 tenths slower. Give or take a tenth.

My last run was definately due to bad shifting.

When I have time for more than just 3 runs, I'll play with the shifting - however, I usually shift as late as possible (now anyhow) due to the fact that my headers completely opened up my top end and the car pulls hard all the way to red line. However, I will try shifting sooner next go round to see what happens.

I'd say right now that I shift right in the 5600-5900 area.

              Thanks for the input!

No kidding, I live there too...Are you hitting OIR (Track) Tomorrow night (Which will be Friday?) I am going there. I will have my IS since I sold my Camaro today...Finally, I got $10,500 for her.

I know a bunch of my friends from 417muscle.com are going, and most of them are pretty fast. I think that a couple of 3.8L's will be there as well!

                    Hope to see ya there!

could be shifting, redline, is not hte ideal place to shift in every car. i am not sure where it is in 3.8Ls, If i shifted at redline, my car actually runs slower. maybe if you had a cam or something.

                        For informations sake:

I shift no later then when my tach reads 5500.

If I get too close to redline and bang into it - then my computer seems to kill my torque for about 2/3 of the next gear.

I will try shifting next time - does anyone have a suggestion? It's just that with my headers installed - my top end seems to just keep on pulling (even on up to redline) and I just hate to shift it sooner in fear of a slower time, but I will try.

Iam also very skeptical of the whole no cat & 02 Sim deal. Meaning I wonder if I have not enough back pressure and I wonder if the 02 Sim (it did throw a light, but not until about a week after the track) isnt screwing with timing in anyway.

get a FTRA to get more air into the engine. this will increase backpressure somewhat since more air will be going in.

sea level, humidity, wind, temperature definitely affect an N/A car....
