  • Worth it?

    ok im still stuck on deciding whether its worth it to mod the V6, or save for the 8. right now im basic, whisper lid and tri flo exhaust. i want to get a 1LE driveshaft, 3.42s, and an LSD, but only if im seein 14s outta this. what do you all think?

    Don't mean to burst your bubble, but I don't think that'll get you into the 14's unless you are already running low 15's..like say a 15.2. What does the car run now??

      you also have to think about the insurance, and worse mpg. thats the reason i bought a v6. I could have just gotten a 96 instead of 98 with some more miles (like 40K), but insurance and gas would kill me.

        i think it's worth it, you can run 11s, heck i wanted to save for an 8 but a guy that i met on a camaro show here in huntington beach told me that about 4 months ago in the gm high tech performance magazine there was this guy, and his wife told him that she did not want the six, so he fixed it up himself, and now that suckers runs 10s :eek: , that made me want to keep my six and create it into a montster [img]graemlins/evilgrin.gif[/img]

          sorry i didnt say that i was A4/ 3.08's- i heard that just the gear switch would get you to 15.2, so i was hopin that + driveshaft + im going to try the 160* thermostat. if that doesnt, ill get a fast toys ram air- WOULD THAT GET ME THERE?

            you'll hit 14's with all those mods, probly. if not, then get a cut-out put on for 50 and you'll hit 14's then.

              Go to the track and find out.
              My car went 16.6 with a couple of mods
              Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6
              nitrous et & mph: 12.168 & 110.95 mph, n/a 13.746 & 96.38 mph
