  • Line Lock Install?

Are line locks difficult to install? Do they make smokey burnouts in a manual easier? How exactly do they work?

With the line locks, it's a simple 12V solenoid. You will pump the brakes a few times and then with the pedal down, you push the button, closing the solenoid (keeping pressure on the front brakes). At that time, you can put your car in gear and let loose and teh rear wheels will be the only ones moving while the fronts keep you planted in place.

I have the Hurst Roll Control line locks. The install was relatively simple, but remember to get the install kit with the line lock kit or you will be hunting fittings for hours. The selenoid mounts on the fenderwell wall by the abs module. You simply run a line from the master cylinder (rear) outlet to the selenoid and a line from the selenoid outlet to the abs module rear inlet. The most difficult thing to do is to get the line bends right and the fittings on the selenoid to seal well.

Makes for great burnouts ! (But DON'T use them as a launching device unless you want to smoke your clutch !)
