Well I went to the local 1/8 dragstrip for the first time last night. My best timeslip looked like this:

Reaction .8145 (on a .5 light, but still crappy)
60 ft. 2.3209
330 ft. 6.7554
1/8 ET 10.5396
1/8 MPH 65.54

I think this is a fairly good time for the car I have and the reletivly few mods that are on my car. I did have the cut-out open during this pass also. I break torqued the car to about 1700 RPMs at the line on every pass. I know I need to get the reaction time down because thats what took me out of the 1st round of highschool bracket racing against a 96 or 97 v6 firebird (which I beat in the ET, but they cut a .518 light and I a .790) So what do you guys think? Be gentle, it was my first time there.

According to http://www.midwaydragstrip.com/conversion_page.htm you're off the chart - you need more mods :D

Seriously though I bet thats about a 16.00-16.2 in the 1/4, not bad at all man.

The 60ft time is not terrible if you're running stock gears and no limited slip...

Thanks, thats just what I was thinking, I need to get some 3.42's and a limited slip differential. I was spinning quite a bit on some of the passes out of the hole. But I think the best thing I can probably do is practice some more.

that should be about a 16.5 - 16.6 quarter mile time, that's what i did when i had just a muffler. I consistantly pulled 2.1 - 2.2 60' when i had my open rear(stock gearing too)

yeah you need to work ont he 60's, the times are not that bad.

The r/t are not bad for your first time out. Anything under 1.XX I think is decent for first 1-2 times out.

You're times aren't all that bad. You're average acceleration in the 1/8th mile is:

9.1ft/sec^2

So that's pretty good. I think the best acceleration I've calculated is Magnus' N20 run, he hit:

12.5ft/sec^2

So just keep trying to improved that acceleration. Get it up to around 10.5 - 11.25 and you'll be running great.

Umm... Cool I really am not sure how you figured that, but I'm sure you know what you're talking about, so next time I go to the track I'll post my times and let you figure out the acceleration.

Well the best NA time is:

10.14 ft/sec^2

That's with no power adder at all, so you can hope to get no more than that without going to Nitrous or a forced induction system.

Acceleration is the derivative of Velocity with respect to time. Here's a useful formula:

A=abs(Vf - Vo)/ET

A = Acceleration
Vf= Final Velocity
Vo= Original Veloctiy
ET= Elasped Time

You can calculate your own accerlation with this formula, but if you don't want to just post your times and I'll do it.

Absolute Value. Just incase the velocity you start at is greater than the velocity you end at.
