I was thinking about taking my car to the track in the next couple of weeks. It currently has 2700 miles on it. Should I wait until I rack up a few more miles on it, or would it be okay to run it now? When is a new car "broken in"? Obviously I'd like to avoid damaging my engine.

keep up the maintenance
I would go ahead & change the oil before I went out to the track so close to the end of the oil life.
other than that, just keep your car well maintained and she will be fine2001 75th Anniversary V6 Pewter Firebird w/ Chrome Wheels, T-Tops, & Y87
Mods: Free Ram Air, !Silencer, Holley Filter, Full 3\" Hooker Catback, 3\" Cat
Best time: 15.095 at 90.00 MPH with a 2.127 60\'

I dragged my dads car for the first time at about 7k, next day I slowed down to a toll booth to pay money, and the clutch pedal stuck thoe the floor and transsmission was making girnidng noises, apparently the clutch system went out. Ohh well thats what warranties are for.
I would change your oil whether you are goign to the track or not.
i don't think it would be too bad for your car jsut do not launch it too hard.

I would wait a little while - get a good 5,000-10,000 on it first. You're going to see better times then anyways since it will be sealed up better.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

I bet you drive it just as hard on the street so chances are you won't hurt anything at the track..
Only real difference at the track is there is less cool down time..
It's a VERY good idea to let the car cool down after 3 passes or so.. the transmission gets really hot and the fulid starts to break down at higher temps. Trannies can be killed this way.
