  • I'm back from the drag strip

Well I went drag racing for the first time tonight. I was dissapointed with my times but, I had a really good time though. I got two runs in and here's the first one.
    r/t 1.314
    60' 2.621
    330' 7.330
    1/8 11.153
    mph 64.04
    1000' 14.444
    1/4 17.178
    mph 82.68
first went ok but the second I couldn't get any traction and my times really sucked. Here's the second one.
    r/t .619
    60' 3.954
    330 9.08
    1/8 12.968
    mph 63.54
    1000' 16.265
    1/4 19.002
    mph 82.11

Maybe i'll have better luck next time.

definitly work on launching the car better. your 60' times are kinda high. also your trap speeds are kinda low for a M5. dont really know how to help you out with those. but as long as you had a good time i guess thats all you can ask for.

did you run the '88 truck? j/k

like john00v6a4 said, work on the launch. what RPM's were you launching at? also, what RPM's were you shifting at? make sure you floor that gas pedal after it hooks up from launch. check to see if carpet is in the way of the gas pedal. and do the ever important maintenance if it's due.

hahahaha I could've probably done better in the 88 truck. Anyway, I have 29,000 miles on my car. First run I tried to launch around 1500 rpms and that wasn't high enough my car kinda bogged down. I shifted at 5,000 rpms on both runs and I had it floored. Second run I don't know what rpms I launched at but I know I had a pretty good r/t. And I know I did a huge burnout off the line forever and after shifting to second from the burnout in first my car kinda bogged down again. Do you think I need a tune up with only 29,000 miles? Only thing I have ever done to the car is change the oil and put a k&n air filter in.

i think your just a little heavy footed off the line.. feather the clutch at the line.. dumping the clutch will make you spin..or hop.

a friend of mine just went to the track last weekend. he's got a 2002 bone stock M5. he ran a 10.1 in the 1/8. it wasn't his first time at a track, but it was his first time in that car. keep practicing.

yeah similar story my times in hte 2000 3.8L was the first 2 days I had been in the car.

I am not even sure if your MPH could be a way to tell your times with a 3.9 60'

hell I would travel 60' in the time you traveled 30'

Launch real easy then work up to harder and harder launches. In the mean time while your launches may not be great you can practice all your shift points.
