New Jetta 1.8T

My bud is gettin a new Jetta 1.8T in a few months. im not sure how fast these things run. With the mods i have right now should i be able to beat him stock? Anybody know? Would i need to get the gears and lsd first?

a newby driver on a 1.8T Beetle can make them run a 15.9 after 6 runs, so if ure in the 14s/ low 15's i think you iether keep up or win, hav fun

A friend of mine did extensive work to it and whipped the crap out of me on topend...it's easily a deep 14sec car. Off the line I rape it but up top he starts to pull me in (70+MPH). Stock no problemo for you.

NO you will not!!!! Not with the 3.08's... that is if he get's the manual. My friend got the 1.8T with the manual and beat me by a bumper the one time we raced. I want a rematch... but basically it is very close... if you have 3.42 and LSD like I do. For 2002 the Jettas got 180HP, that was +20 over previous years. ALSO they torque curve is badass... peak torque of 174ftlbs from 1700-5000rpm. Factor in the 300lbs weight advantage, and you can see why that Jetta is quick.

BTW, when I raced my friend it was before the 3" exhuast, I had a full tank of gas and he had only 1/4... I also had my plate in blocking the FRA mod... I figure if i was ready for him, it would have basically been even... that's why I have to race him again [img]smile.gif[/img]

EDIT: Watch out if he chips it, cause then it's all over: 250HP in a 3000 lbs car... that Jetta's now a GT killer.
