• I'm Stuck At 88-89 Mph

What would it take for me to get the ride into the 90-93 mph range in a 1/4? I hear a cutout will increase the mph a bit, but I'm not too sure.

I guess a cutout will help. I had very good high end with one but pityfull lowend. I got rid if the cut out cause I couldn't stand it. The fast toys ram air kit is probably the better way to go. I think it should put you at the 90-92mph range. Good luck. ;)

I already have the ram air kit. It's made by whisper instead fasttoys. It works the same.

Redsix, I noticed you have alot of mods. Have you ran your car at the track? If so, what's your 1/4 time?

I haven't been out to a track in a long time. I really need to head out and see what my car is running. I used to run a 9.8ish on the 1/8 mile a loooong time a go when I was close to stock. This was in Navasota, Texas too which is a nice gravel pit (no traction). My car runs light years stronger than it used to. I'm guessing with a lot of practice at the track I could hit a 14.7 or so, but I can't back that up so I'll just have to go out and do it.

Also, Redsix's dyno #s are before the headers and cat and FTRA. Just a heads up.

I read on this board that one member gained 4mph going to an aluminum driveshaft from a steel 1 piece. I just had mine put in. I'll tell you what. I don't know what the gains are, but the car feels like it does when you ride with the air conditioner turned off. At the very least it does. You can also tell that there is less load on the engine because the exhaust note is softer. Even when the temperature reaches close to 185, it's still running stronger than it was prior to the change. Honest. I haven't gone anywhere without the A/C turned off in in the last few months, so I can tell the difference. I advise anyone with spare money to get one.

You turned me on to an excellent exhaust setup, so I'm turning you on to this. The gains are at least half as noticeable as a gear change.

If you got a high stall torque converter you'd get up to your peak torque much quicker which would get you to a higher rpm at the end of the 1/4.

I don't know if this will shed some light to your question, but...

I ran 14.7 @ 95.5 mph with these mods:
3" cat (dynomax), 3" catback (dynomax), whisper lid, K&N filter, Jet module stage 2, 1LE DS and trans mnt, FRA, ported throttle body, O2 simms.

Now I have added MAF delete, rapid fire AC Delco plugs, Taylor 8 mm plug wires, and gutted cat.

NOTE: I ran 14.7 with an open rear differential. ;)
I'm going to run her again soon...

Blue, that's pretty good. You should get your 1/4 times put in the list. I guess I need a few more mods to get it up there in the 14.7-14.8 range or just LUCK.

go to lower gears

2.73s should do it

cheater trick, shallow stage the car, might get a 1/4mph without doing much.

your car is going to need topend, what kind of exahsut setup do you have, cutout, may or may not work out for you.

I have a cutout, but not yet installed. I think dropping to a lower gear will make my 1/4 time worse than better though.

it will hurt your time but help your mph.

I lost about 2 mph when I switched form 3.23s to 3.42s.

I gained like 6mph going from a 2 piece DS to the steel DS. I now have a 1LE and havent tested it yet. Idont think i will get ne higher tho. W/ a torque converter you will still see the same if not 1mph slower. Now if you get a cut out it will give you a higher mph but $hittier 60'.If you get a torque converter you will see awsome 60' but the same mph. But if you put both together than you will see better 60' and better mph.
