  • 1/4 very slow need advice

I was on crack and originally put this post in the "general tech" section. Anyway, ran a 16.8 at the track, and that sucks! What RPM do I need to launch at with an automatic?

    Thanks,
    Eric

yeah, at Thunder Valley. I didnt know anything about racing then and just straight launched, without holding the brake and giving it gas. Does that make a big difference. Did you run a 15.7 stock, and do you have a 5-spd or A4?

      Thanks,
      Eric

Posting your entire timeslip (or at least 60' and 1/4 mile MPH) will help alot for advice.

Start at 1500 rpms "stall".Hit the brake and apply gas till you see 1500 rpms the let off the bake while smashing the gas. If you dont spin go a little higher on your next run.

          Yes post you whole slip!

I've held the brake at 1900 rpm and let go, but I still don't get tire spin. Granted, they're brand new tires, but I should still get a little spin. At least I beat a v-tech less Civic! (by about 5 car lengths!) What could I be doing wrong? Also, don't have my timeslip anymore, lost it. But trap speed was 84.

            Thanks,
            Eric

As I said I don't have the timeslip anymore, but the temp was around 90 and I think the 60 ft was about 2.8

well there is your problem right there. that 60' is really high. your 60' should be no higher than a 2.2 with an automatic. it could even be lower than that, but not any higher.

Are you talking about a burnout or 1900 rpms at launching?Cause your NOT supposed to spin tires when launching. Spinning will cause a sh*tty 60'

I don't spin when I launch because the car simply won't do it. It seems like I should be struggling to not get them to spin, but its like there's not enough torque getting to the wheels to make them spin.

Are you like mushing the gas or stomping on it? Cause when i was bone stock i could smoke the tires and launch the car hard trying not to spin. Well what gears do you have? It could be due to 3.08s i dunno or your just doing something wrong.

yeah I think its the 3.08 gears, what gears did you have stock? How did you get the tires to smoke, by stomping the gas or smooshing it? I think actually I might be doing something wrong. I'll hold the brake and rev it up, keeping it revved up at 1900 until I launch by letting the brake off. Should I just stomp on the gas pedal immediately before I let off the brake to launch?

                          Thanks,
