A lot of the guys in the Camaro club that I belong to get on my case when I show up at club meetings in my V6. I always get the comment "you forgot two of your cylinders at home!" Several of these guys have pre-4th gen V8s so I'm just waiting for a chance meeting at a redlight next to one of those guys.
Seriously, usually they are just kidding around but I don't talk up the power of the V6 so that an encounter like described above will have greater effect when the time comes.

I never get hassled by the v8 guys. I hang out with them at the track, they are all pretty cool and we laugh at the rice and that new expensive cobra that isn't all that quick. They thought my times were awesome for a v6, even beat an LS1, he admitted to not being able to drive it though. ;) . It seems message board people are a-holes. The difference in computer car clubs and real car clubs comes down to how much respect is given. I am fortunate enough to be in a real car club that doesn't look down on anyone. My car is respected because it is an F-body that has been very well taken care of.
