Has anyone tried a gripping substance like Track Bite or Formula V. I was just wondering if it works or how well it works. The stuff is about $30.00 a gallon and I just wondered of it was worth it. Experienced opinions welcome!

If no one has tried this stuff, I guess I will be the Guinea Pig. If you have, though, let me know.

Well it is used all the time at the track.
Are you trying to dead hook on the street or track?
      What are your suspension mods?
      tires
      Gears
      tranny etc??

Most tracks use VHT track bit etc.. and are not going to allow you to pour some on the track and do your own custom thing... Front drag shocks and some sticky tires will help out your M5 car.

you can put that stuff in an old DAWN bottle, and after you clean your tires off, get someone to spray a little in front of the rear tires, then you pull up into it and spin the tires a little, people used to do that a lot about 7-8 yrs ago at my home track

I know that it is used on the track, but at Indianapolis Raceway Park, they do not prep the track on test and tune nights, only on race days. (What do you expect for unlimited runs for $10) I wanted to get a feel for what my car will do on a prepped track. I want it to hook up well. The last time I was at the track, I had a tough time hooking. The next time I am going to go to the track will be on a test and tune night and my biggest concern is traction because the track gets hot and it is not prepped. I have done a lot of test and tune, but I want to start e/t racing. I just wanted to know if the stuff worked because on the bottle it says you can spray it directly on the tire to get that "prepped track feel." Check my profile for mods. No suspension work, torque converter on the way, the gears are not stock and I had the computer reprogrammed. I have street tires, but they are not stock. Thanks for a positive reply, 12sec, wicked9838.

By the way, you some people need to chill the f**k out. All I asked about is if a product did what it claimed. Then, I get replies saying stuff like "they are not going to let you do your own custom thing and and spray some on the track." I did not ask nor imply this. I am asking about applying the product to YOUR TIRES. Do not put words in my mouth or try to make me look like a fool. I have been to a 1/4 mile track plenty of times and I know how it what goes on there. I am just trying to get some feedback on a product. It says to put it directly on the tire, I just wonder how well it works. If you do not know then don't give me a reply that is just a razz about something I did not even say. Just because I do not post on this site too often does not mean I do not know what I am doing. I have done all the mods on my car myself (except the exhaust). Some people have real attitude problems on this site. Thanks a lot for your negative input my fellow "f-body brother."

P.S. Does anybody else understand where I am coming from? I am just tired of seeing people get raped for asking a question, especially ones that are fresh and undiscussed.

That was an official joke :D
Well, what rpm do you leave at?
What tire psi do you run?
I've always run 40 in front and 30 in rear.
I went 13.4 on street tires with the above tire psi.
What treadwear, traction and temp rating are your tires?

I'm sorry that you are that immature.

IRP is an NHRA track so don't say I didn't warn you if they yell at you if you slow up the line. I'd ask first.

Here is a pic of my car last weekend, I go to the track every other week...

As for the first part of your post, you do not know me. I am the type of person that will let you know if I do not like something you say or if you try to put words into my mouth. I do not candy-coat or kiss a$$.

Once again, you put words into my mouth. "don't say I did not warn you." That is what you said, correct? Well, if you would have read my initial question, you would know that I ASKED IF A PRODUCT WORKS. I did not say I was going to run out and hold up the staging lane while I spray it all over the place. So, warn me about what? I just want to know if a product works, which I still do not have an answer. If the product sux, I will forget it. If the product is good, I will figure out a way to use it. A question that I thought seemed so simple.

By the way, I have seen you at the track, last year. U.S. 41 Dragway, ah yes. We've met, small world, huh. You may not remember, but I do. Your wheel fell off. You will probably remember that day.

Usually rev against the converter to about 2k, then punch it. The tires are V-rated, I think. They are yokohama s306's, 255/50/16, so I have just a bit more width and sidewall than our stock 235/55. They are pretty good and are pretty much new (less than 5k on 'em). I usually run and 26-27 psi in back. Do you think that psi is too low? The first time I put these tires on the track, I hooked up great, but the track was not busy. The second and most recent time, the track was very busy, I could not hook very well at all.

So your only track experience is 2 times?
Try the tire psi I suggested and also check the other post about traction compounds

I have had about dozen seperate track visits (at least 3 0r 4 runs per track visit) on the old stock tires. They did not grip well at all, but I expected that being that they are P.O.S. Goodyear. I just think these tires should grip better, especially since I had a good day the first time I ran them. My traction problem was probably a combination of PSI, a hot and busy track, and a hot night, I already kind of figured that. I will adjust PSI, I just wondered if that gripping compund could help compensate as well. No one has told me yes or no.
