OK i know this sounds kinda dumb but I have a a4 and when I race people is it better to just floor it or just keep it up t0 4000rpm? On one more thing does power braking really help me my case? And how do i do it for sure? Thanks alot guys

Moving to Drag Racing...
You'll have a better response & feedback in there. You definately want it floored though... Wide Open Throttle means maximum air & fuel into the engine, & therefore maximum power out.

yes, you definitely want to power brake, and, as MTMike said, keep it WOT (wide open throttle) the whole time. Your maximum torque output may be at 4000 rpm, but the car doesn't reach the max on its horsepower curve until almost redline RPM.-Eric
2002 Navy Blue Camaro...Striped and Stalled. 35th Anniversary SS wheels
Best ET: 15.384 @ 88.32 on street tires
Project Whitney: Goal, 14.0 1/4 by summer 2008.

I believe most people stall at 1800 RPM.1 of a kind
Red 97 Camaro
Modifications:
SLP CAI, RK Sport Headers, Car Sound High Flow Cat, 3\" piping
3\" Steel driveshaft, SFC\'s, Panhard Rod, MAC Torque Arm
Manual Fan Switch
Best E/T:
60\' 2.152
330 6.271
1/8th 9.704
MPH 71.93

You have to be more specific about power braking. If you mean power braking to the point that the rear wheels are spinning before you let off the brake, I believe this will not help you go faster.
If you mean what RPMs to start at (one foot on brake and one on gas), then there are two theories I know of:
1) Hold the RPMS right at the point where the rear tires are about to spin (stall RPM), and launch from there.
2) Hold the RPMS above idle, about halfway between idle and stall speed. This will take the slack out of the drivetrain, but still allow the engine to accelerate into the converter. If your idle is 600 RPM, and stall is 1800 RPM, hold it at 1200.
I prefer the second method, but it depends on you and your car. The best way to know which is best is to try them both on the dragstrip, where your 60' time can tell you which gives a better launch.
Hope this helps.1995 Camaro M5 3.4 Quasar Blue Metallic with T-tops.
K&N, Jet Stage II chip, Z28 exhaust, 1LE aluminum ds. Need more power!
Next: Auburn posi
1976 Pontiac Trans Am. Street driven. Has low compression 350 Chevy runs 12.81 @ 104, 1.73 60\'

hehe lol I wish! Nah the most I can stall up to is about a tad above 2,000. The best way I find to launch is to let it powerbrake up to about 1300-1400 and then just wail on the gas as I release the break. It basically shocks the system and propells me to my awesome 60' times. :D

if you have 3.08s...I don't think ya can. I drove my friend's 98 w/3.08s and I couldn't get it to spin.
With 3.42s. Hold the brake down (not all the way...just enough to stop the car from moving) and slowly apply more and more gas (and slowly apply more brake to stop the car from rolling)until it breaks loose. If this doesn't work, floor it and then immidiately apply the brakes (not too sharply) to stop the car. You're back wheels should continue to spin. Enjoy!
