well, i went to the track this evening. weather was decent--about 65 outside and 50% humidity. the wind was blowing due south about 40-50 mph, and the track was facing due north
well, i hadn't the best day today, and so i wasn't expecting the trip to the track to be much better. a local guy has been putting me off for 3 weeks on the lca's and i didn't want to go until i had the lca's. but the nitto's were in my closet, and i haven't really been into the whole car thing lately, so i decided to get them out and go hit up the track. although my goal was a 14, i was just shy of it:
RT - .5688 :D
60' - 1.9872
1/8 - 9.47
ET - 15.07
MPH - 88.01
for my first run, i left the street tires on, to get an idea of what my time would be comparable to the last time i went to the track with the verter and no DR's...it was hardly any different...
60' - 2.27
1/4 - 15.49
MPH - 87.22
the last run with street tires was something like a 15.57@87.34 i think.
o well, i don't guess it was a bad night really. i just wasn't in the mood and haven't been lately, so i needed to go before i completely didn't care anymore.
i was like one of those crazy 9 sec cars i was hopping around so much at the starts. i fishtailed on every run cause my car was bunny hopping. tires weren't spinning much, a little, but not too bad. wish i had gone slicks from day one, the nitto's just weren't strong enough for my 3600 converter. i ran up against a z06 the time i hit the 15.0, his time was:
60' - 2.30
1/8 - 8.71
1/4 - 13.09
MPH - 113.49
it's amazing how close our 1/8 times are--i jumped ahead of that son of a ***** so fast i was scared of the power my car had on low end. he caught up 6-7 car lengths faster than i would have ever expected though--as you can tell by the 1/8 mile time.
magnus--flashing the converter to 1300 doesn't do it for me. i stalled at about 2300 all night and was hitting constant 15.1's, 15.2's, the one time i "flashed" it i hit a 15.35. so i'm not too hot on that idea.
all in all, i'm glad i went, i didn't have fun at all to tell you the truth because the wind was blowing so hard in the OPPOSITE direction, i was pissed. i couldn't even open my door until i parked my car going with the wind. i threw my cigar about 10 ft in the air, and it flew SIX parking spaces and almost hit a mustang 5.0! that should give you an idea.
anyway, those are the times, you probably won't see any from me again for a while. with some slicks and lca's, i'm pretty sure mid 14s would have been a breeze (minus the 50 mph breeze, that is). but with what i had, i couldn't use the converter to it's full potential--which upset me, but, i guess that's how it goes: live and learn.
