  • Time for Slicks and Skinnies

I think its time for me to get slicks/skinnies. What brand wheels and tire combo is good? I am thinking BFG drags 275/50/15 in rear mounted on a Weld Prostar. But I dont know what tire size/brand to get for the front? What size wheel for front? And what backspacing and all that do I need for the front/rear?

Should I get a 15x8 or 15x10 for the rear?

And where is the best place to shop for these?

I say 15x8 draglites are lighter than prostars but not by much i love my prostars i think they look cooler. My skinnys are prostars as well they are 15x3.5 and have Kuhmho's mounted on then not sure what size right now. Dont go 15x10 cause if u ever need more tire like me and 12sec and need to go to ETstreets 15x10 ETstreets would be way to much. It isnt the type of tire that breakes rear ends it is the dead hooking so no matter how big the tire is dead hooking is what kills rears and not to mention if u got that big of a tire u would be slowing yourself down.

Cool. I hate the look of the draglight so that is not an option. Prostars look good though. Could you go check that tire size for me on the front when you get a min?

whats the difference with PROSTAR XP and PROSTAR?

yeah when i go ton break for lunch i will find out.
The prostar xp i only think comes in like 16x8 and above i dont believe they come in 15x8 also they are mad for newer car with 4 wheel disk brakes so that unlike the regular prostars you dont have to grind down the caliper in the rear. Also make sure you gedt all the right speacers. The front i know is 5/16 spacer.

Drag radials were fine for me into the 12's.
                  I run nitto drag radials (245 50 16's) on a stock 5 star 16 x 8 rim.
Do you want a seperate set of rims dedicated for track use only?
Are you trying to save every bit of weight posible?
Personally buying some old f body rims (16 x 8's) work quite well.
If you go that route look for the camaro salad shooter 16 x 8's
I run mickey thompson et streets 26 x 11.5 x 16's on a stock camaro salad shooter rim.
                  Nice and cheap rim.
The weld drag lite rim is around $220.
For the amount of weight reduction vs cost for now I'm going the cheaper route.
I have stuffed 15 x 10's in the back of my bird w/ no rubbing or spacer but that was the day of the photo shoot
                  As for skinnies, I run weld drag lite 15 x 3.5's with a 5/ 16 spacer.
                  I run 175 80 15 tires.
You can run the volkswagon 165 r 15 tire but I do a lot of driving on mine so I went a bit wider.
Touch base w/ our vendors and see what prices they are offering.
