• Is this any good?

I just ran a 15.4 at 87mph...is this any good for just the dynomax muffler? or is it normal? and is there anything i can do in a week to lower this at all?

Just a muffler does alomost mothing but make the car sound better, put a CAI, and bigger piping, this should bring you to high 14's. Underdrive pulley's also free up a good amount of HP.

If your not wanting to spend money you can shave the airbox/raise it. Also see what you can do about weight reduction

no underdrive pullies for the 3.8

Weight reduction:
back seats
front sway bar
spare tire & jack (though make sure to take a can of fixaflat with you)
Any after market stereo stuff.

Also take a flash light and a tire/air pressure gauge. By dropping a few lbs of pressure(in the rear tires only) you should gain some traction. But keep it at a safe level or stop at a gas station once you leave to put air back in.

i wouldn't suggest taking out the front sway bar or using fixaflat...that stuff can ruin tires if you don't do it exactly right--which is quite time consuming. if you want to, just take the spare and jack before going to the track and put it back in when you get back. otherwise, not a good idea. it's only 30 lbs, you aren't going to see much of a difference at all. weight reduction doesn't do THAT much unless you get rid of a whole hell of a lotta weight, and front sway bar and spare tire and jack (two things that could be very dangerous without) are not going to do much. as far as the back seats go, i don't have any, and that's not a big deal.

also, as far as the air pressure goes, on street tires it's pointless. stock converter won't do **** for un-traction unless your tires just suck or you launch above the breaking point of the converter (~1800 rpms) and the answer to that is simple, launch at a lower rpm or get better tires. but if you are having traction problems with street tires on a stock converter, lowering the psi will most likely change nothing.

Ok shaving the airbox means basically taking it out and cutting all the plastic out of if that it blocking air flow someone with a 98+ car may have better insite on this and I've never actually done it because I have a 96 you may trya search!

As far as what you were talking about raising your RPMS yes this will help its called powerbreaking. Hold in the break get the RPMs up to 1500-1800ish depending on car and when the third yellow goes mash the gas and remove foot off the break!

Thats the best I can describe it you need to practice a little everyone's converters are a little different!

yea yea, im not shaving the air box...im going to use a whisper lid, see if that does anything, i took out the back seats but i dont expect that to do much, if anything, at all. I'm going to the track with my friend who has a 98 v6 procharged mustang pushin 11lbs. he says hes gonna beat me. HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA jk...he will...ive raced him before.
