Ordering my skinnies today... What width spacer do I need? Also what tires are recommended? Specifically, what's the difference between a "front drag tire" from Moroso or MT or the like, and a simple narrow tire that I could pick up for a bit cheaper from a local tire store?

Found the spacer width for those who'd like to know, it's 5/16"
I just ordered the Weld skinnies, but did not order any drag tires with them. I'm going to go with a 165/15 VW beetle tire for now. If those don't work, then I'm only out like 50 bucks, so no big deal.

Yup 5 / 16th spacer
There are a couple fo choices when going with a tire for the front.
First question, will they be used on the track only or the street.
If street then eliminate the front runner's.
The front runners are a much lighter tire than the radial you can run.
Shirl has front runners, they look bad *** !!!!!
I am told that front runners do not last long as a tire so using them on a street wouldn't last very long also.
As for a street tire:
Well, minimum width is the VW bug tire which is 165 R 15. I looked into this but I planned on driving back and forth to the track with them on.
I run a bf goodrich 175 80 15 tire. It is a bit wider and more streetable tire than the VW tire.
I drive from jersey to vermont and back with them in front.
I drive from jersey to maryland and back with them in front.
I've had mine on for the past month and will have them on for another 2 weeks.
If you are using Weld draglites torque them to 80 foot pounds.
Torque them, drive, retorque them, drive some more retorque them and so on.
They do loosen up.
Compared to a stock 16 x 8 tire with a 225 50 in front you will lose 20 pounds of rotating mass per side for a nice total of 40 pounds.
It does make a difference

I use spacers on front, 5/16" and drive my car on the street often.
Last time I was putting on the wheels though I test fit them without the spacer. They seemed fine. I'll try them without the spacer soon. I'm not really sure its needed.

I read on cz28.com that the spacer is used in order to clear the part of the caliper I think.
However, do the V8s have larger calipers than the V6? If they do, then the spacer may not be required for us.

one thing g-tech is good at...
i did a 132ft 60-0 once, was pretty sweet--and i have drum brakes in the back, and that makes it actually impressive. and i think i could have stopped faster, cause it was my 2nd or so time to do it, and i didn't just slam on the brakes...it was kind of half way then all the way down, i thought if i slammed it, even with abs, i would have gone everywhere.
