  • give our opinions on this launch technique....

All right I just want some opinions of which is a better alunch technique, assuming I hook or very near hook.

1st. I revb the car high to about 4500, let clutch out slowly then let it out more, and run. Thing is about this, I am in 1st gear for a very very short time, car gets going aroun 4k, and I shift about 5k.

2nd, I lauch lower maybe 3700, and car is in first gear which by far pulls the hardest, so maybe its a good idea to stay in that gear as long as possible and get all the power I can out of it.

I can figure a way to fix the bog or spin lauches but which do you think woudl be better.

I also have a little gearing 3.42s instead of stock 3.23s with my 5-speed.

well regardless of what rpm you start out at your gonna be shifting at the same time....I know its different for your car but no matter what my auto goes outta 1st at arounf 40mph +-...so if you can get it to hook with the higher rpms then go for that....the reason your not staying in 1st as long is because yoru accelerating faster...but at 4700 rpms you gotta be lightin those things up....

I was thinking similar things jsut by the physics, less I am in each gear is best, means I hit 86 mph faster.

Its taken some practice but I ahve learnd how to finess it to laucnh at high RPMS... without conpletely killing the tires.

Sh!t I can't manage launching above 2000 RPM w/out spinning the tires like a mad man. I had my best 60' when I bogged a little.

If you think about where the car makes peak torque then launching as close to that as possible is optimal. As long as the tires don?t spin.

Your question is ?assuming I hook or very near hook.?
I would say launch at 4-5000 rpm, assuming you hook and your motor doesn?t bog.
I have made a lot of money in my life, most of which I spent on cars and women.<p>The rest I have blown.

basically do you think being in 1st gear longer is better ro to be out of it as soon as possible...

bahh... I shoudl jsut go to the track tonight and practice.
