• 3.8L versus 81 6.6 Liter V8 transam?

    Hey guys!

One of my friends just bought a 81 ( i think, aroudn that year) trans am, with an automatic V8, 6.6 liter... Would I stand a chance? it sounds and LOOKS like a monster Just throwin' it around, just incase I ever decide to, I can still walk away without losing my man hood

    thanks

I thought the guy in that post was racing the 6.6 with a WS6?

If the hood scoop reads "6.6 liter" you should be able to take him. It is likely an Oldsmobile 403 (170 hp) or possibly a "basic" Pontiac 400 (180 hp).

If it says "T/A 6.6" it could be a good race, particularly if it is a 4-speed (autos. were held back by gearing too high for any real acceleration). That's what the hood scoop read if the car had the optional high-output 400 Pontiac engine. They were rated at 220 hp, I believe.

yeah, but they also talked about the engine options and how slow they were.
