it's not like the belt controls the crankshaft, alternator, or any of those necessary components that require your car to run, so you are free to take it off!

1. take a joke.
2. my car isn't slow bud.
3. taking your belt off is a terrible idea, as stated above.
4. all of the above twice, and then a third time.
ah ya, 5. chill out.
and 6. repeat #5 until i become "un-shady" (whatever the hell that means)

Hey malloynx#2 you should see a noticeable gain in doing that. A few people I know have done that and seen anywhere from .15-.3 taken off there ETs. You don't really need to worry to much about anything that the serpentine belt runs. I mean the alternator doesn't have to charge you can just run off the battery. It wont bother anything in the A/C. Your water pump doesn't really need to be running. I mean you have VERY MINIMAL water pumping though the engine until the thermostat opens. Just make sure that you've let the car sit long enough to cool down. I wouldn't want to see you go in there at 190*, take the belt off and go running. Just wouldn't be a very smart idea know what I mean. ;) Oh and you crank pulley and other pulleys wont miss the belt either. So I say to just make sure the car is cool and go for it. I know I am next time I go to the track. scott, get a life man.
15.07 converted car btw. also, have you run yours yet? ya, i didn't think so.
your so weird. you bash me every chance you get and you tell all your little buddies to bash me too, so immature man...and for what reasons? none whatsoever.
back on topic, run it without a belt if you want, i think it's retarted.2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28
323/335

that's not Scott! It's THUPERMAN!

BTW, no flaming, but you should be in the 14s with a TC and the basic intake/exhaust, which I'm assuming you have.

i can't get traction =\
i dunno, too many people, a lot of them on here (no flaming meant here either) just judge times by mods, which is retarted. you have to run your car before you know anything. you can't just assume and say "you should be in the 14s with a TC and the basic intake/exhaust, which I'm assuming you have." cause that's it takes a little bit more.
but whatever, if you would like to flame me (scott) cause you are only ignorant enough to put down my car when you don't even run yours, then i'd rather you just stand there and make you look like a jackass.

watch out for your battery voltage. if it runs out, that's it, you'll have to get the car jumped.
have fun without power steering.
the problem with the coolant is, when your car reaches the 160, 180, or 195 that the thermo is set for, it will actually go into your engine, and then sit there because nothing will be able to move it along...which is not good for your engine, to just have that stuff sitting there, free of flow. that is when you get leaks and blown gaskets and stuff. whatever though, good luck, you blow anything, all i'll say is "i told you so." if you run your new best, then congrats!2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28
323/335

i said have fun with it :D didn't say the car was inoperable without it. but remember what i said about the coolant...just keep it in mind, i wouldn't run the car for very long like that. but since you weren't born yesterday, i guess you know that...2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28
323/335

Well, look at it this way. When your water pump is running it creates a pressure. This pressure is never high enough to open the thermostat until the temperature of the coolant reaches the specification of the thermostat. This means that the only way the thermostat opens is by the pressure generated by the pump and understanding how the coolant reacts to temperature (how it expands). When both the water pump pressure and the coolant pressure (after it has expanded) is added together it is great enough to open the thermostat. So, really you should never be able to exceed the pressure rating of any gasket. The only thing you really have to worry about is running to hot. Which could make many funny things can happen. By the way I didn't post this to argue or disrespect anyone's opinion. So don't think I'm trying to say I know more than another member. I just wanted to say that because I see their is a little conflict between some people on the board.
