How much better will I be going with DR's on weld prostars and skinnies vs. just getting some 245/50/16 DR's and throwing them on my stock wheels? It will be alot cheaper to put them on my stock wheels but how much more would I benifit running Prostar 15x8's with 275's?

If you have the same brakes as the LS1 on the rear, then 15" welds WILL NOT FIT unless you grind the calipers down. I'm honestly not sure about the 98+ v6 cars and their brakes, but unless you're ready to do some chopping (like I had to do on my new TA :( ), you better make sure about the size of those rear brakes.

I spent the money (actually mom did for my b day) and bought me weld drag lites for the front.
I bought the 175 80 tires.
For the rear I could not warrent spending $200 per rim (16 x 8's or 15 x 10's) so I just went and purchased the salad shooter camaro 16 x 8's which are the lightest f body rims out there.
My salad shooter maro 16 x 8 rims with mickey thompson 26 x 11.5's weigh in at 38 pounds
My 16 x 8 pontiac 5 stars with 245 50 nitto's weigh in at 46 poundsRace car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

Regular Pro stars aren't made in 16x8. They only make 16" in the XP series. The XP's, however, are said to be very heavy. Heavier in fact than the stock 16x8 Fbody rim (the draglite xp at least). I wouldn't recommend an XP wheel unless you just want it for show.-Travis
99 Trans Am, Pewter, A4 Forged, stalled, and cammed
85 Buick Regal WH1 T-Type It\'d be cool if it ran...
94 Camaro 3.4, Teal, M5 The daily beater

+15" Nitto DR's have more sidewall than 16's
+15x8 Pro Stars fit fine on the back of the V6's with drum brakes no mods are necessary right Magnus?
+15x8 Pro Star = ~12lbs vs 23 for a stock wheel
+Yes they make a 16x8 Pro Star or used to 1-800-788-weld
-XP's are the same weight as stock rims
-Your car might not make enuff tq to need the sidewall of a 15" DR, results might vary.98 Pontiac Formula
10.3@136 | 1.58 | 3450 Raceweight

Ok Well I have 4 wheel disc so I guess I have some grinding calipers to do.
Thanks guys.
Can anyone confirm how much a Prostar XP weighs? Those wheels look so nice I would like to put some DR's on XP wheels. But if they are as heavy as stock then thats out of the question. I asked weld and they wont get back to my email.
