do you have the shift points adjusted for the 4.10s with the hypertech? Are you on stock converter?

does the hyper tech remove your speed limter? (sorry not an expert on 3.8L computer stuff...)

Cuz if it doesn't won't you be hitting the speed limiter possible before 95 mph with 4.10s?

And you run no bumper supports?

isn't that a bit dangerous for a few pounds of wieght reduction?

          Every get a track weight?

the hypertech not only removes top speed limiter it also allows you to recalibrate your speedo for the 4.10s. so my speedo is accurate as well as having no top speed limiter. The main reason i got the hypertech was so that i would be able to race due to the crazy offset of the 4.10's. I didnt get it for the "performance" part of it. I also had the rpm limiter raised to 6300 because of the lag in the tach, it allows you to be a liitle late and not hit the limiter. also FYI i DID NOT shift into 5th. i had plenty of room in 4th. The bumper supports...meh. keith, james, and i are hardcore, thats all there is to it. and yes we raced at us41.

haha btw, roy was at us41 when we ran the numbers, his car broke :( poor trans am.

Edit, no race weight as of yet, i heard of a scale in the area that i can use for free, i will find out where it is and go use it today. im interested to find out as well.

                Don't hijack Zach's thread Roy.

It was an AWESOME day for the zach mobile at the track... It started off bad.. I broght my nitto's down to slap on the car for traction.. but the wheel lock key got "lost".... so we couldn't get the nittos on.. so street tires it was..

Zach made a bunch of passes.. low 15's.. and a 14.9.. track wasn't hooking at all.. He was spinning all the way into second. I asked if I could take it for a spin, see if I could launch easier and beat his #'s... his best currently was a 14.9 on a slippery track.

I took the wheel ran a 15.0, 15.4, 15.0, 14.8, 14.6.. when I hit the 14.6 I was like HELL YEA!!! and I KNEW i could do better and told zach I was coming back with a 14.5.... but instead I came back with a 14.4 ... and then another..

At this time I figured the car is MOVING and I've had a blast.. now let zach drive HIS car down the track a little. ... right out of the bat he hit a 14.4.. the track was hooking much better. He hit a few more 14.5's.. and then cut a 1.9 60' but let out of it because he saw smoke which he thought was his car (it wasn't)... that would have been an awesome pass..

I was SURE I could still do better though.. so I took his car to make some more passes.. He told me he was dumping the clutch at 3 grand so thats what I did.. cut a 1.97 and ran a 14.3 and I was ESTATIC!!!! I wanted to make a couple more passes and zach did to... I came around and zach was like.. GO AGAIN GO AGAIN.. but I couldn't because the misfire was bad. :( ...

Thanks a TON zach! Great times for sure.

I'll get some action shots up in a little while.

The KEY to running #'s in a manual is SHIFTING.. I wasn't power shifting, I don't think there was any TIME to power shift.. I wound out EVERY shift to the very last moment, 6200'ish and BAM.. Shifted as FAST as possible.. to the point where I was almost not using the clutch.. 1-2 just BAM pull down.. 2-3 I just pushed in an angle as fast as possible.. and 3-4 just pull down as fast as possible.. I mean i was shifting like a FREAK!!!!

I drove the car home but was unable to show zach my shifting style due to the misfire... but we slapped on a spare plug wire of mine and I took him for a spin.. I shifted like a mad man in franklin park... and grindind 3'rd once.. :( Like I said, to the point where you're almost not evne using the clutch.. I seriousely don't understand how there is enough time for the clutch to disengange and shift....

                but thats the key.. SHIFTING!!

It was definately a lot different than driving my car.. my car I just launch and I'm done.. in zach's car I have something to do the whole way down the track!

On nittos I bet he could cut a 1.8 and run a 14.2.. The car definately has more in it.

It was pretty sad watching me do a burnout in his car.. I woul drop it at 3K and the car would hop and skip and jump and buck.. but once i started dropping it at 4K it was much easier.

Tires were around 20psi (street tires) and burnouts were a good few seconds.

It was definately good to be racing an f-body at the track again.

hell yeah man, it was mad fun yesterday. we would of made 40 passes if it wasnt for that damn wire. (mountain out of a hill eh keith? haha ;) )

Yeah the track was MAD cold in the morning, and there werent enough cars goin down it to warm it up. The first few runs i was spinning in second, not just the usual spin, but like halfway through 2nd. Btw, the car chirps 3rd. I could hear it when keith took it down the strip. I knew it chirped 3rd on the street but i wasnt payin attention for chirps on the track, i was focusing on racing. That centerforce clutch is mad nice.

Yeah, i let keith drive home because my baby was hurting, the shifter was shaking so bad due to the missfire. It was ticking me off, it hurt to drive it. And keiths car has been on jacks for a good month now. So he got the pleasure of driving a 5 cylinder camaro, haha.

And the smoke story...the car before me broke on the track, so they went down and cleaned it up. they put down this rice powder stuff to soak up the fluids i guess. Either way, after it was cleaned (it was in the right lane) a bike went, by himself, in the right lane. So then me and some other car line up, im in the left lane. We go, that was the first 1.9 60' of the day, i dropped it at 3g, it was PERFECT, as i shift to 4th near the end of the track, now i dont have to shift anymore, so i take a look to see where the other car is, and i see SMOKE EVERYWERE BEHIND ME! I instantly thought "oh **** what broke...that poor lady is going to have to clean this up too, im going to go appologize to her for breaking on her track after she just cleaned it" so i let off the gas before the 1/4 is over because i thought i broke something. the guy who was racing me flys by and like is waving his arms at me to pull over. i go in the return lane and i put the car in gear...and it goes...im like wtf could be broke...no SES light, engine isnt over heating, trans is fine...then i see 2 more cars racing down the track...and im like...if i broke they would be out there looking for fluid on the track or something...then it dawns on me...i drove though all that rice powder ****...thats all it was. i was shaking for the next 10 minutes i was so scared, hahaah. i talked to the guy racing me and he said he thought the same thing, that i broke. man was that scary. that was my 14.3 pass too, the 1/8th and everying were almost identical to keiths 14.3 pass. That was the pass i figured out exactly how to launch the 4.10's on a street tire. I was so happy i didnt break something that i couldnt stop smiling and laughing about the incident. everyone found humor in the story at the track.

20psi in street tires? I need to try that in my blue beast... I learned about shifting and launching bigtime taking my car to the track.

                      Granny shifting = 16.2
Shifting fairly hard with stock clutch = 15.64

I had more in mine I just didnt have my launch down.

Way to go Zach, Im totally effing jealous :D

Clutch definately played a big role in the cars performance. Each shift bit hard!!
