almost every engine does. i realized this now that i've had my share of autotap and f-bodies experience. interesting ya'll were picking up knock WITH 93 octane though...how much knock (degrees and # of knocks) were you getting zach?

I dont know, keith wasnt very descriptive that night. he just said "you got some knock at WOT" and im like...thanks ;) but we found a burned wire after the races. it had been acting up all day before and then intermetant. once we replaced it the missfire was gone and she was kickin again. So my guess is that some of the knock may have been attributed to that burned wire. it was acting up all that week, i almost didnt go racing but keith talked me into it. im glad he did. Quote zach "I'm not racing, my car is broke *** "..

and the broke *** part was an occasional stumble every so often! LOL... mountains out of molehills.

I'm just glad the wire didn't burn sooner.

You saw about 3 degrees of knock at WOT in the upper RPM's..

BTW.. my engine, before heads/cam.. NEVER saw knock.

yeah, keith i have NO IDEA how the car was fine all day. and you know we got **** lucky. why would i go race a car with knock and a misfire? you didnt really tell me what autotap was picking up.

ocasional stumble every so often that we drove home over 100 miles with NON STOP the ENTIRE WAY. ;)

And thanks for the extra plug wire keith, i have 0 money right now and im in no position to spend $50 on taylor wires and some new plugs. Thanks again bud.

Edit, yeah, about 2 months ago keith and i autotaped my car, and it was getting ZERO knock. he wanted to compare what his car was doing to a stock heads cam 3.8. my car had Z E R O knock, and i run 93 all the time.

just fyi.. more technical.. 3 months ago your knock counter picked up zero counts.. I wasn't watching degrees though.. sometimes the PCM add's degrees of KR for other reasons other than knock counts.. like learned knock, traction control, torque reduction.. things like that.. very whacky stuff.

BTW.. $30 for the plug wire, and.. lets see.. $100 for the labor.. so I figure you owe me $130.. so when you get some money you can pay me back.. that'd be great.... thakns.

                  eh, shutup ;)

not all of us are so lucky... :(

not a big deal though, even if magnus and zach used to not have knock, they have had it at some point in time REGARDLESS OF THE REASON ;) , as do most engines with over about 50k miles...wouldn't you say that's a fair assumption?

i auto-tapped my car last night--with 93 octane...3rd tank of it i've ever used in my car. the first one was this summer, and the second one was a week before this third tank.

i WOT 3 times from a stop, and 2 times from a roll, all to about ~90 mph. during that time, i saw at the most, 4 degrees of knock (usually in the 2* area) and a total of 16 knocks throughout those 5 WOT periods. i was told that was **pretty** normal, but it's still a bit much. not trying to invade your thread zach, but what would either of you guys do to contain this knock? maybe half an octane booster at the track? or is that getting too high for the engine? thx a lot.

keith may disagree with this, and thats ok, but reset you pcm. let it learn on 93. just an idea. i honestly dont have much knowledge on that subject. i dont have autotap or a maft.

I will disagree.. PCM does not need to be reset to learn.. It's a smart computer. It will learn by itself.

if the computer is so smart, why doesnt it LEARN when you are at the track and advance its timing....not to smart if you ask me.

hahaha yes im just joking around
