• The quest for 15's in a 3.4.....help me please

Hey all, have a request for you. I know that these type questions are abundant and all, but I am curious as to what I should do next. I have a 94 3.4 camaro. So far I have a B&M Shift Plus, 2.5 inch Flowmaster 3.4 Catback (http://www.splmeter.com/94camaro.html), and a K&N FIPK, as well as some appearance stuff. At the 1/8 mile I run a consistent low 10.6, which is like a 16.4 or so in the 1/4 right? My 60's are usually in the 2.2X range, with X = a high number. I spin and have to let off, launching at about 1800 or so. LSD seems to be a good idea, but what else can I do that will allow me to keep up with 3.08 geared 3.8's in the 1/4? Help please!

Behold the mighty power of the 3.4 :D ;)

What kind of weather were you running in? I have intake and exhaust (with open cut out, see sig for more details) and have ran a 10.32 with a 2.27 60ft in about 56* dry air. I would say gears and lsd would be a good thing to do. Make sure to get any water off of your tires before you lauch.

If ya got any more ?'s ask.

my 10.2 time was a 16.2 so you have a ways to go, and it was on the 60' in my sig (i was getting wheel hop so it could have been better(i pulled 2.1 60' stock)). I did not have my high flow cat on the last time i went so in the spring i'm hoping for 15's also. i would definately get the limited slip, and maybe a chip. I remember this chip being recommended by a 3.4 owner.

Well, my track is crap, the best run out of an ls1 there is a 9.1, so yeah. It was pretty cold when I ran that, and I avoided the waterbox. LSD I need pretty badly now I think, and gears are too much right now. <--sounds hypocritical, but factor in speedo recalibration, worse gas mileage, etc and it builds up. Thanks for your opinions and comments though.

I didn't do gears internal gear lsd swap I did wholoe rear axle...

but Iw oudl assume doing gears and lsd at same tiem woud save you money in the long run?

As for speedo recalibration... I went form 3.23s and to 3.42s... sure it will affect my spedoometer makes me say I am going faster then I am but its not that rough. Like 5 mph off...

I noticed a slight decrease in mileage but it was very slight but I ahve a 5-speed...I jsut put it in 5ht gear more often on the streets so that may be different.

I woudl consider a cutou even with your exhasut.... biggest mod I ever did was problable a opening up my exhaust hugely... I lost some low end but it works at the drag strip wonderfully....

setup I have now works nice in autocrossing and dragracing... but its kinda ghetto and loud... I am looking to replace it soon.

LSD will help but not by leaps and bounds...

I reccomend checking your coils and making sure your plugs and wires are all good.

LSD is only going to help you launch a little harder... but after the first 30' it will be useless down the track.

It is nice when cornering hard though... I love it coming otu fo turns but I figured you are going for a drag time.

As for a chip... I am looking at that one mentioned now... I am thinking a chip will be my next mod and I like the price so far of this chip. But have never heard of it.

I have not been to the track yet , and I am hoping to get a 1/4 mile time almost as good as Eric's (MustangEater) in the mid 15's. But I probly wont go to the track for a while and it sucks.

So Ryan, how much did the 3.42 and LSD help you? I know that your 3.4 is quicker than most, because of your stories of beating new cougars on the highway (where their power is) and all, but could you tell a good difference?

When I got the gears I definetly could feel the difference . The gears get me off the line very fast and my 0-60 mph is alot quicker. The gears and LSD are definetly worth it!
