ohh yeah my dads car... took it ot the track once... powershifted it at the track and around town for 2 days.

blew out pretty much the entire clutch system and literally crumbled part of the clutch.

only had 7,000 miles on it....

Jesus! Something is wrong with your method! Or maybe something is right with your method, I dunno.

Ouch heh maybe I wont powershift.

Well, on a brighter note I chirped 2nd for the first time in my life coming home yesterday. I had a grin on my face all afternoon (until I got to work that is).

What I did that time was follow the methods mentioned but I did let off the gas slightly. If I break my drivetrain though I may as well call my friend to pick me up everyday because I doubt I would get my car back.

Ah well, sometimes you have to take risks right? ;) And if something breaks just get a new, but better, version of it. Shouldn't be bad if I rarely do it anyway.

hehe... thats how I do most of my mods...

-replaced plugs and wires with better when stockers went out.
-replaced exhaust when stocker stuff went out
-replaced rear axle with z28 rear axle with 3.42s, lsd, lt1 drivesahft when taht all went out(actually waws cheaper then fixing all the stuff wrong with my stock one.
-I got a good deal on used pulleys and new belt... $60 shipped and considering a new belt costs $30 went for the pulleys also.
-replaced tranny mount with 1le when stocker went out.

I also launched w/ dropping the clutch but in lesser rpm. I have open diffy w/ stock gears and the stock 215s when I ran that time in my sign. I dropped the psi around 22 psi.

            EDIT:

Oh yeah, I agree on shifting really fast.

On street tires I've had my best results simply launching from idle w/ normal air pressure.

On nittos I've been running 14 lbs of air pressure. Do a good burn out, rev to like 3k and dump. Shift hard and as fast as possible.

I've tried powershifting, and don't have enough clutch for it.

a shift that chirps the tires is actually one that occurs too slowly. once you get the technique down you will find yourself shifting gears withoutthat bark from the tires.
the best/fastest way to shift is to leave your foot fully on the gas and move the stick, as soon as your hand starts to move the stick then you kick the clutch as fast as you can, never actually stopping your foot moving down then up. once you get it down it is an awesome feeling, the car will roll better after the shift since it isn't losing any momentum and your et's will drop dramatically.

foot to the floor bouncing off the rev limiter building boost. Then drop the clutch.
