What is even worse is when someone else mentions YOUR track times before you get the chance to mention them.
When I see you I'm going to Hulk Hogn Leg drop yer *** !!!!
And then Ric Flair chest slap you!!!

Explanation will be posted later.

Track conditions, weather etc are MAJOR factors!!!
ET streets now are no longer safe to be driven on, WAY past their lifes span.
Pictures also for proof to be posted soon
This is why I needed to take time to post MY explanation!!

Also first round the check engine light came on and misfire in cylinder #3 but that was not mentioned

You are both right, yet both wrong.

James has the right to mention HIS times first, BUT why the heck post on a V8 forum before here!

Tazmision just decided to let the cat out of the bag since it already went public somewhere else (aka ls1.com). Nothing wrong with directing a thread from there to here. James should be the first to mention tho.

James, that IMO wasn't cool in deleting his post!

Good luck for 11s next year though!

Well.. I can tell you it's not an 11 second time slip.... Or I would have had e-mail from him jumping up and down like Fluffy for his damn Graemlin

You both need to relax. James... Why would you post times on LS1 and not here first??? That makes no sense... are your loyalties going somewhere else...?

First, why did I post it elsewhere? Because over there they didn't need an explanation etc.
Over there I'm just another drag racer, over here I'm a v6'er.
Fellow v6'er's would want to know mods, track conditions, track set up yada yada yada.
I knew my rough times so they were posted over there, here I'll be more exact with explanations.
That is why it went there before here.
NO other reason.

Now, getting to my day at the track:
Well, the night before I removed the complete air conditioning system. I was trying for best times so every little bit counted right?
Previously I've had serious traction problems so I decided to full up with gas before I run, I filled up with 14.399 gallons (I already had some in there) about 35 miles before the track. I pretty much had a full tank of gas.
I figured with no a/c in front and full tank of gas I'd see great weight transfer and dead hooking. I also tossed my floor jack in the spare tire well for added traction.
Well, it was typical, skinnes at 42 psi, et streets at 15-16 psi.
I was also running a different intake set up than last time. Last time (Spun to the 14.98) I had the slp cold air which takes the air filters and puts them down in the fender completely sealed from engine heat. I also had my own ram air scoop hanging down. This time I was running no ram air scoop. I was also running my plastic lingenfelter supertube with a conical air filter on the end. The air filter sits right behind the headlight, not sealed from the engine heat.
As for vehicle weight, my guess was roughly 3450 (previous weight on 12.49 spinning was 3320) so this time I was running more weight.

Weather: It was cool, in the 40's (12.49 spinning was done in low 30's) and there was wind roughly 10-15 mph crossing the track.
Ideally the weather could have been better but I'll make due with what I had.

The first bottle had been used so it was not completely filled

The first 3 runs were on the 100 hp jets, the last 2 were on a 125 shot

Ok, first run:
I rolled through the water box, snapped the tires, rolled a bit more and hit the line locks.
I started the burn out and then rolled out.
I staged and then the run was a frigin joke!!
r/t......977
60.......2.311
330......6.550
1/8......9.565
mph......82.17
990......12.058
1/4......14.298
mph......104.18
Well, I spun to the 1/8 mile mark (later that day I hit a 7.9 in the 1/8th). It just spun and spun and spun forever!!! Top of second check engine light came on flashing and then steady. The code was for misfire in cylinder #3 :(
At this point it was either pack up and go home or just say f*ck it and blow the motor. Well, I couldn't come home with a 14.2 right?

So I sat in the staging lanes and heated the bottle.

Next run:
r/t......527
60.......1.823
330......5.235
1/8......8.137
mph......84.38
990......10.580
1/4......12.775
mph......106.29
This time, due to the last run spinning to the 1/8, I waited till right around the 60 foot mark to hit the nitrous. This was a similar mph to my spinning 12.49 but I just couldn't et well. Next run I knew I had to hit it sooner
Third run:
r/t......711
60.......1.709
330......5.114
1/8......8.035
mph......83.47
990......10.515
1/4......12.740
mph......104.87
Great 60 foot, I hooked but could have hit it sooner. I started to run out of pressure in the bottle at the 1/8 mark and it continued from there. This would have been a good run.
Now the track stopped everything for lunch?!?!?!?! WTF, a race track halts everything for lunch???
So, I switched bottles and jetted for the 125 shot.
Fourth run
r/t......913
60.......1.765
330......5.118
1/8......7.969 <--- Got into the 7's
mph......85.86
990......10.376
1/4......12.540
mph......107.72 <--- New mph
I hit the nitrous a bit late. I was scared as to how it would be launching on a 125 shot with the converter stalled to 2800 rpm's. I'm told by friends that I spun also. It pulled good but seemed to be lacking top end. Probably lack of fuel but ar/fuel guage was rich to stoich
I hot lapped the car and got the psi up for the Fifth and final run. In between the 4th and 5th rounds we sprayed my et streets with VHT.
Fifth run:
r/t......864
60.......1.747
330......5.086 <--- Almost in the 4's
1/8......7.924 <--- New best
mph......86.28 <--- New best
990......10.322
1/4......12.489 <--- New best
mph......107.35

I spun!!!! I had no luck today. Sigh, spinning all day long :( I bought the et streets used. The owner said they were useless. I needed a bit more traction than the nitto's I only have 18 attempted passes on them

So, I hit new best's in 330, 1/8 et, 1/8 mph, 1/4 et, and 1/4 mph.

The best I could get out of a 100 shot was 12.7 so my guess is weight, weather, track conditions and driver had a factor in this.

The car should be able to pull a 12.2 on the 125 shot but the driver sucks

My et streets are garbage now. Parts of the tires are coming through. There are no wear indicators on them. This is probably a factor on my lack of traction. Pictures will be up soon.

At first I was mad about my times. Then as I was switching back to drag radials for the ride home I had 2 seperate people come up to me and talk to me about my v6. One a cyclone owner and one a regal t type owner. I know the cyclone owner from e town. His cyclone runs 10.2!!!!
He said he was VERY impressed with the performance of my v6. We talked for a long time.
Then as I was yanking off an et street the t type came up and said awesome times for a v6. We spoke for a while also.

This changed my attitude. This made me remember that this is my hobbie. My fun in life. It doesn't matter if it is the fastest out there.

One thing about me, I ALWAYS expect to run a new best. Whatever I ran last (spinning to a 12.498) I MUST do MUCH better. I am always raising the bar for myself.

Also, one more thing to add, I cruised home at 70 mph and the tach just read about 2000 to 2050 rpm's and I saw 30+ mpg all the way home

I figure my times aren't that bad
There is always next year though.

As for why this was on ls1 before here.....
Take a look at the length of the explanation here vs there!!!!!

Yeah wether its an 11 or a 12, its still much better than I can do right now. Well it looks like we all have something to stay tuned and watch for next year! I bet you will find a few mor tricks up your sleave as well.

Hey james, when you get new slicks, you can run a little less than 15 psi in them if you like. A lot of the slicks I mount up, the people only want 10psi in them. I think just having new slicks will help a ton though. If your past the wear indicators, thats bad news.

Good times!
