how bad can chrome rims hurt your 1/4?

I have chrome rims that weigh a lot. I have a 97, a4 y87, with slp cai and my best 1/4 was 16.00, i dont think i spun the tires much and im not sure what my 60 was because i ran it a while ago, oh ya it wasnt very humid at all either.

It hink Cali gets some slower times overall I may be wrong.

But depending how heavy they are affects it. 1 lbs. on a wheel is rotational mass, and is also unspring weight. Int he physics of the car it affecdts the car alot more then jsut the actual physical weight of the wheel.

Same thing applies to bigger rims, and since rim is bigger tire sidewall is thinner and stiffer which causes its own problems.

not sure it will cause a huge difference, but if you sitll ahve your stock rims throw them on the rear and see if there is a difference.

you have a Y87 and your best time is 16.0? Go to the track and get some more runs in next chance you get. I bet you'll be able to pull better times by quite a bit. There shouldn't be a ton of weight difference between chrome rims and others, but every little bit helps. As far as it affecting quarter mile times goes, I don't think it will make much of a difference.
