• Plans For Next Racing Season

Now that my car is no longer a "daily driver" its time to start thinking big. I recently purchased a motor out of a 98 with 17,000 miles on it which I am gonna start work on here in the next few weeks. The plan is to find a nice heads and cam package that compliment each other well and forged internals. I paid $450 for the motor, I can get L67 spec internals from my connection at the local dealer for around $500 and I am gonna guess around $1200 for heads and cam, so I am looking at around $2200 in the motor considering I don't have to do anything else. Weight reduction will be a big focus for me during the down time as well, I have got alot of good ideas on what to remove what not to remove ect.... from you guys. The main things I want to lose is the power steering pump and AC, then front and rear bumper supports, passenger seat, back seat ect....

Since I am doing a motor change, I plan on juicing the current one to its death and see what I can pull out of it. I will make a trip to the track and keep uping the shot until she blows, see what kinda ET I can pull, why not I was thinking just go ahead and slap the 200 jets in there and let her rip, but then I thought that would be kinda crazy, why not move up slowly and see what kinda ET she will pull, 125, 150, 175, and if she is still together 200 but thats not likely I also think the ET streets are hurting me N/A, what was I thinking, its still just a lil ole V6

I guess the point to this thread is to hear everyones plans and expectations for next racing season? What are your goals?

My goals are to have this new cam installed. About a week away from that. Then I will have my mechanic start to fab my custom TURBO. Then I will need some Centerline Autodrags with slicks/skinnies and some LCA's. After that I want to have a 13 second Turbo car. 13 second in utah at 4,400 ft. elevation that is.

I am also gonna need a new clutch. Spec stage 3 should work. Then an aluminum Driveshaft. Hope to have all this before next April when the track opens.

Hmmm... Plans... Well... I've bought alot of stuff in the past few weeks, lid, cai, filter, torque arm, lower control arms, powerdyne supercharger, shift kit, vette servo... All I need is a new posi, rebuild my rear axle w/ some 4.10's, new nitto's and weld draglights, maybe a converter, but I doubt I'm really gonna need it since my car launches pretty hard already. So, I'm gonna be slick and skinnied with a blown and juiced V6 gawd next year will ROCK.

i plan on a LT1 or LS1 camaro.

i got a 14.991 1/4 mile time at seasons end, and i dont see it gettting much better w/o pricey torqe converter or running a dangerous amount of nitrous.

More weight reduction:
Goal is 150 pounds but most likely 100 pounds
Weight relocation
Forged bottom end
Direct port 150 shot
11.5 at 113
385-390 rwhp
480-490 rwtq
No longer a daily driver car
