Jsut was thinkgin of soem weight reduction but if I do it I was thinking all out...

About how much weight do you think if I yanked...

all seats
all carpeting
headliner
stereo
speakers
Door panels
centerconsole
Basically everytihing but the driver seat and dash

Front sway and endlinks.

also how much do the bumper supports weigh? Still kind of agianst it but may consider it.

Any other things you cna think of.

Front pass cloth seat is 38 pounds
Front drivers cloth seat is more but I haven't weighed it, my guess is just under 50 pounds
Back cloth seats (butt parts) maybe 1-2 lbs max
Back cloth seats (back part) 10-15 max
Rear seat belt assembly 2-3 lbs each
Carpeting (including sound deadening), I'm told 35 - 38 lbs (sound deadening under it is 13-14 lbs)
Headliner, honestly I dunno
stereo: head unit 5-8 lbs?, speakers 3-4 lbs?
door panels, honestly I dunno
center console, again, I dunno
front sway bar and endlinks 11.5 lbs
front bumper support 24.5 lbs
rear bumper support 19.5

Any other weight questions?

Why take all of these things out if you dont have any major mods or plan on running 12's?

well Front sway I used to do it for weight transfer...

Interior... Car is a 94, and has 122k, basically wanna yank the carpet to give it a good cleaning, and that involves most the other stuff coming out also.

healiner is saggin on my head and I want am thinking of trying my home Ec skills and sewing a quick little chevy symbol in the head area of each one to keep it off my head a little.

I know I can do the sway bar in less then 20 min. I was thinking if the car is goign to be this extreme for roughly a couple days... mayeb I shoudl go the whole 9 yards and add a coupel other things, and go for a 15.2-3?

I figure I ran a 15.4 with some very minor problems with them fixed and minus roughly 100-150 lbs. might drop the time and get a new best, by shaving .1-.2 seconds.

15.2-15.3 in a stock heads, stock cam, stock intake manifold, stock TB 3.4L would be pretty nice.

I really cleaned up my 85 camaro to almsot new condition taking it all out and meticulously cleaning it all watching TV.

Why not?
Car people always want to go a bit quicker.
Going faster ='s $$$$$
Weight reduction costs nothing

If you ask me striping a car down is not worth it, unless it is a strip only car. I added up all the things listed above and plus a few pounds for the unknowns. You are looking at 200lbs. You are losing a lot of creature comforts for .3 at the most. Basically all I am saying is you know what your car would run if you unloaded 200lbs. A low 15.

Things I would take out to save weight.
The back part of the back seat
The jack and tire (at the track)
The front sway bar is more than I would do for the minimal gain seen. I drive my car nearly everyday and I like to corner.

Its to bad you're a broke dick (I mean on a budget) like me or the list of weight saving mods would be long and fun.

Did you here about that poor bastard who just won the lotto for 315,000,000.

First off, .3 is a LOT.. not easy at all just to gain .3...

Second of all, how many of us ride with A/C on down the track, some girl in the pass seat and a couple of honeys in the back seats while bump'n tunes running trakc times??? riiiight.

Nobody said you can't take the stuff out before you hit the track and then put it all back in. I do it ALL the time.

I do like the luxaries of my leather seats, stereo, AC and its not worth it to me to pull it out and put it back in. But, lets say I did, How much weight can really be shaved off?

Lets just say you removed every part possible, not body panels, and no replacement parts, how much would it lighten the car by? Im just curious.

This was jsut a week only thing not a permanent solution... not sure many of you have seen the inseide of my car...

I plan on yanking the carpet so I can use a carpet cleaner on it, and all the light gray interior parts behind my windows have a dirty look to them, I did this on my 85 Camaro... I cleaned it meticulously with all the stuff inside the car... wasn't happy then I took it all apart and clenaed each part piece by piece in fornt of my TV for a couple hours. Car looked immacculate and I got every nook and cranny clean.

The headliner is sagging, I am gong to try to sew part of it up, I have done the reglue thing on several other cars and know the result of FL weather 3 months later.

I figure fornt sway is a 20 min. job I ahve done it before as a tack only mod...

Radio, thats a joke, and was planning on taking the door panels off to clean them up might as well go the extra 4 screw and remove the speakers.

Bumper supports... only reason thoguht passed my mind is some say its a easy weight reduction.

AC? who is getting rid of AC? I live in FL, its winter and I am drivng with windows now but not in summer.

ALL the stuff is going back in the car, jsut thorouglhy cleaned, figured I might go the extra step with the stuff out. Maybe a week with the interior out, but only a few hours for Radio and speakers out.

hmm.... 0.3? I think that is all the more worth it.

I would say 300lbs max weight savings. That’s with out replacing parts for weight savings.

And yeah I think that is an easy .3 when you are talking about a 15-16 sec car. Not a 13sec or faster car.

I don't think .3 is much when you get it by taking weight off of a heavy slow car.

Now do something to a car that runs 12.50 to get a 12.20 and that .3 is a huge amount.

I don't think its worth the work to take it off run a 15.20 then put it back in to run a 15.50.

If I hit a 14.00 I would take it all out just to see if I could get the NA record.
