Those things are pretty light weight and cheap. But will that be safe?

Why not just get cheap speed rated tires put on the donuts?
Thats got to be cheaper than buying wheels and tires right?aJustin
2000 Black Firebird A4 Y87
170.2rwhp/203rwtq (SAE Corrected)

i am sure you can get a donut for less then $10, aren't skinnies like ~$100 a wheel?
If we are going to do it doing it right may cost more then we can afford... If I could ahve afforded to do it right I woudl be driving a lt1, fully loaded with black leatehr and T-tops, wasn't really an option for me though...

Here is what my plan would be:
1.go to a junkyard
2.get some donut rims that fit our cars
3.get the cheapest piece of crap speed-rated tires from a tire store
4.mount and balance 'em
5.put on the skinnies when you get to the strip, and then laugh your *** off when you just did a $90 mod that cuts a couple thenths.16 years old with no car and big dreams...

I'm told, but not confirmed, that tech will not let you race with factory doughnut rims in front.
They will fail you.
If this was something that the tech's allowed it would be seen more frequentlyRace car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

YOu never been to OSW...
they never follow long pants rule, they never check to see if people are 18, they never check helmets for 13.99 and faster till recently and they never say anything about roll cages for faster guys.
Also plenty of guys heating nitrous bottles with blow torches, and don't get me started on the alcohol and drunk rednecks racing.

Well, englishtown (my home track, and john force runs there too) is strict about the long pants, never busts balls on helmet requirements but make sure that ANY racer irregardless of et wears one, doesn't make sure that they are 18, roll cges start at 11.99 at some tracks and 11.49 at others.
Usually they bust balls slightly at tech but then when you go to pick up your slip you will see it more.
It's just not safe to run those rims in front at high speedsRace car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6

I looked for a long time and couldn't find tires for our donut spares...
They are not that light anyway, you'd only be saving on roling resistance.Keith - Chicago
HP Tuners - PCM Reprogramming
97 Firebird V6 to LS1 swap
V8 9.967@132.78 1.322 60\' NA Heads/Cam
V8 10.295@128.48 1.363 60\' NA Cam Only
V8 10.987@119.31 1.422 60\' NA Stock Internals
V6 13.674@98.22 NA
V6 12.394@104.91 N20 100HP
