I ran my car at the track a while back with about 3-4k miles on it. Now that it has almost 10k miles it feels a lot stronger, especially with the newly installed 3.42s. My question is, does a brand new car not run to its full potential until it gets at least 5 or 6 thousand miles or more?

I noticed that my car ran better after it had a few more miles on it. It might of just been me getting better at shifting though
I just noticed you are from Oklahoma. When are you going to TV next? Maybe we can meet up. I have a black firebird with a silver hoodbird on it. Easy to spot ;) 2000 turbo/intercooled M5 Black Firebird<br />349.5hp and 415.3tq @ 4400rpms

Well, Thunder Valley probably won't open again until Feb. I'll go next time they open, hopefully. I looked on their website and the last thing they had scheduled for 2002 was December 8th. Hope to see you there, though. The engine needs to break in.
Typically in the case of LS1's they are fully broken in around 10,000 miles.
Pistons, rings, etc all need to set in.Race car - gone but not forgotten - 1997 firebird V6
