Brake torque it up to 3000RPM when you are in the front of the lights. And let go of the brakes and floor it.
    Thats what I do.

Just stall it up as high as it will go (without losing traction off the line) in drive, and go. Don't bother manually shifting it, because it might actually hurt your time because our cars all have electronic transmissions, meaning they can shift more precisely than any human can.

keep the shifter in one of the two Ds and hold the brake down and apply the gas. Keep flucuating the two until you can feel the most resistance w/o the tires spinning. Once you get to this point and you're ready to launch. Release the brake and floor it. You'll get one hell of a great launch. If you plan it right, you won't spin tires.

yeah but they shift at like 3500rpm, when i shift the auto i can redline 2nd at 80, instead of it shifting at 45. Ohh yah, Without shifting i ran a 10.098 1/8 mile, with shifting i ran a 10.000. ;) Never got past 2nd though.
