• Hello I am new to the boards.

I own a 2001 Camaro RS, loaded, pewter paint with the SLP RS package making my HP 205. For me the look and performance of it sold me on it. It's an automatic with a top speed of 120 mph at 4000 RPM. I think it would go at least 130 mph with the governor disconnected. Fortunately this governor doesn't cause the engine to bog down when the top speed is reached. The mileage is 28000 and I bought it new. I haven't gone to the Sacramento raceway to time it, but I'm planning on it. Would anyone happen to know what kind of times I might get bone stock? I am curious about what kinds of performance kits that are out there to increase my HP. I'm totally new to all this, but willing to learn.

Hey, welcome to the board! It IS good to see another RS&gt;..

Regarding your question about racing... there are tons of factors like weather, amount of gas in your tank etc... but to generalize you expect something between 15.5 and 16.2 depending on what gears you have.

Don't be discouraged if you dont' run fast your first time out though...launching an automatic camaro isn't as easy as standard drivers would have you think...

You will be able to improve on those times by practice alone.

Good luck and welcome!

Welcome, sounds like you have a nice car. Do you have a web site?
I would also guess at mid to high 15s? but there are a ton of factors involved.
I have made a lot of money in my life, most of which I spent on cars and women.<p>The rest I have blown.

My best recommendation is to hang out on the board and search it for all its worth - there is a lot more to these cars than you know and you should catch up If you have any specific questions ask them in the appropriate forums, email someone - we dont mind we're all pretty much friendly

Thanks for coming to the board, you might want to add a little info about your car in your signature (edit your profile).

With the RS package, I think you have 3.42 gears (check the RPO codes on the door to see, look for GU6 and G80). GU6 = 3.42 axle, G80 = zexel torsen posi for your model year. With a car like that you will likely run 15.4-15.9 depending on what kind of a dragracer you are, and having never been before it will take practice to get it into a lower range (mainly launching technique). The hypertech programmer is out for 00-02 cars as well, I own an 02 as you can see below and you might want to click my sig and see what all I've done, it might help you some?

Welcome!!!
Well, it will probably run anywhere from low 15's to low 16's depending on weather, track conditions, and driver.
As for mods, hang around and you will see many of them out there.
Torque converter will REALLY wake the car up.
Check the drivetrain section for info on it
