• More weight reduction today

Well, since I now have the sable all creature comforts come out of the bird.
Previously the bird weighed in at 3080 n/a w/o driver

I yanked out the ac system for 30.5 pounds

Today I yanked out the head unit, front 6.5's, front tweeters, and misc wiring for another 14.5 pounds

I'm guessing the best weight I could see is 3035 n/a

I know there is more misc wiring in there and I'll get to it shortly.

My fog lights will come out, the black holes in the nose of the bird will become functional for ram air soon
That will get done this week or next
Hal shocks are supposed to be 2 pounds lighter per each one.

I'm guessing this year's race weight w/o driver n/a could be 2900-2950

More to come

I know some will say but it is only 14 pounds? Is it worth it? When you are trying for 11's and quicker everything counts

personally i think you should get an exhaust shop to put on some flanges in diff parts of the exhaust. i'm sure taking off the muffler/cat combo and just running open Y would easily be 50 lbs or so.

Well, I must go back to the dyno for some back to back nitrous passes with and without the cut out cap on.

N/A I did not gain or lose any power
Back in the day on a different engine, stock converter, and dry kit I lost 10 rwhp and 30 rwtq just by opening the cap.

If with the new set up I do not gain or lose any power then I will explore a much lighter exhaust set up.

I have shown some recent interest in the loudmouth due to weight reduction only

ya, that would help.

although cut-out and NO EXHAUST are two different things. i would think you'd gain a buttload of horsepower and loose about the same in torque. of course, you've got a 3600 stall on the bottle, no reason to worry about torque, and maybe that'll help you NOT spin off the line.

back to my original point, exhaust is about the only thing left that may even bring your weight remotely down. recently, my car flooded and i was forced to rip out all of the carpet and dry it. well, i had to rip out all of that padding that lies underneath the carpetting (which is quite thick) cause it was ruined from the water damage. well, all in all, that stuff weighed about 10 lbs altogether, WET! so i don't think removing all the carpet would help that much, and that's about the only thing left to snag.

of course james, you should consider taking off your sun visors, and also all those damn heat shields underneath the car if you don't think you might need them and maybe even rip out every piece of the dash that is serving no purpose; and airbags and their modules could always go. also the antenna in the rear. then you could take out the carpet lining in the trunk of your car. and just completely take out the sail panels in the rear as well.

I'm not sacraficing any torque for weight reduction
380 rwtq on a 100 shot
When I have the 150 direct port maybe 470+ rwtq?
I'll knock on 500 rwtq, from a 231 ci plant

i don't think it'd hurt to pay the extra $50 to put some flanges on the ole bird and take the exhaust off for a run or two. who knows, even though you may have lost more hp and torque, you might run a better e.t. due to weight and traction.

anything can happen man, you should give it a shot (no pun intended ;) )

Well, once the engine is done it will be another day on the dyno
Last time with the tnt kit I spent 5+ hours on there
I'll try all different things to find the best hp and tq for my car

take out sound dampening.
dynomax bullet and dump it before the muffler.
i was swimming in the carribean. animals were hiding behind the rocks except for the little fish, but they told me the squid\'s trying to talk to me. oink, oink. where is my mind?

ya, that's the stuff i'm talking about. i've taken all that out of my car cause my car flooded, it doesn't weigh 5 lbs altogether dry; trust me, not worth the effort it takes to remove it.

Sound deadening is gone, I think it was 14 lbs?
Carpet, already found a light weight one, soon I'll purchase it

you could get chromemoly LCA's and panhard bar and the G2 torque arm is 5 pounds lighter than stock

Well, I don't want to go backwards in mods.
I am already running hotchkis trailing arms and pan hard rod.
I still have not decided what to do with the torque arm, still stock here.

But, the advice is appreciated, thanks

the chromemoly LCA's are supposed to be 2lbs. lighter than the stock dunno what the hotchkis weigh. how bout corbeau forza's? less than stock and if you figure out the position you want then in you can weld than in to save more weight than having them adjustable. don't know how serious you are about the weight reduction though.
