• wtf. 14.58@84mph with a 100 shot..

so i go to gainsville to run today and the place was packed. i only got one run in and it was horrible. first let me explain the story. On the way to gainsville i have a 75 shot in my car and i was just messing around and the car was pulling awesome, i'm mean it was pulling really really hard. i get to track and put the 100hp jets in(52n-33f). i turn thee boost-a-pump all the way up to 50%. i'm in the staging line for like ansd hour, bottle pressure was at 1100 psi and the weather was perfect. so it's my turn, i heat up the slicks and turn the switch on and i spray the 100 shot out of the hole, about 4 seconds later the car starts bogging and chugging so i shut here down. i also got a flashing ses light(misfire). what's the deal with this damn kit. it won't let me spray the 100 shot. i have checked everything twice and everything is working correctly. my 75 shot works freakin great, but the 100 is horrible. the only thing i can think of is the when i changed the jets iturned the nozzle abit and it might have been spraying in the the side of the tb and not directly into the manifold. can this cause a crappy run.. well here is the slip off the top of my head.

60ft.......1.8
330........5.5....this is were the car went to hell.
1/8.........8.8@71mph
1/4.........14.58@84mph

my off the line was crazy, i was smoking this ls1 till i hit the 330, then i all went to hell. this could have been a great run. i need to figure out what is going on. maybe i need a fuel pressure guage or something., but i did have the b.a.p maxed out so the fuel was there. ohh and my 02's were in the .900's

• #2
well i just did some testing and i think i have a fuel issue. i disconnected the nozzle and sparyed the fuel and n2o into the air. with the b.a.p set at 0% the fpss is being activated, with the b.a.p maxed out everything is working fine. i'm also thinking i might have moved my nozzle while putting the jets. other than that i'm clueless..

I would take out the FPSS and maybe get the rid of the boost-a-pump in favor of an in-tank and/or some bigger injectors.

I spray a 100 shot on my 97 3.8 and I have a 155lph in-tank and 24lb injectors using a NX Kit.

well i think i'm going to keep the boost-a-pump. i don't think i was running lean. i wish i had my autotap with me. with my 75 shot i was seeing 930's on my o2's and this was with the b.a.p at0%. i set it a 50% for the 100 shot and i could hear my fuel pump working it's *** off :D i'm pretty sure the fuel was there.

anyway james here is the info you asked for:

weather is in the mid 40's and there was a tailwind.

i had 15 psi in my bfg's and 40 psi in my skinnies.
i did about a 10 second burnout to heat the tires up and i launch at 1700 rpms. i was spraying out of the hole. bottle pressure was at 1100.

here is the slip.

60ft....1.880
330.....5.603
1/8.....8.898
mph.....71.79
1000....?????
1/4......14.594
mph......84.97 :( :(

i really don't know. like i said my 75 shot is insane. but i ran the 100 because i knew i was only going to get one run today. when i was changing the jets the nozzle was moving back and forth in the tb. i'm thinking maybe it was pointing in a bad direction. also when the car started bogging i got a ses light. it flashed a couple of times then went solid(misfire) i'm going to pull the plugs tommorow. the car runs fine and it's the same as it was before t went to the track.maybe i need to go to a higher fuel jet, but i know my fuel system can support a 100 shot.

let me know if you need anymore info

How were you sprayign out of the hole? ie: Flash verter than hit switch, or arm system and let WOT switch take care of it as soon as your foot hit the floor.

also, as SOON as you feel anything wrong with the car you should shut down and find out the problem before spraying again or risk damaging the motor.

If you bogged it could be that you just ran out of nitrous.. happened to me before.

system was armed and when i mashed the floor it came on. same way i've always done it.

also it was a full bottle(1st run).

i haven't hit the juice since that last run

how's it feel when you spray out of the hole with the verter? THe verter stall up much higher? If you flash from 1700 spraying out of the hole, at about what RPM'st he nitrous kick in?

I'm planning out my grenading launch goign for low 11's.

I bet it feels good.

ohh man it was awesome. i wasn't expecting to get thrown in my seat like that :D . i even looked over and this ls1 was 3 cars behind me. even when i hit the 330 i still had 2 cars on this guy, then i got a a flashing ses and started having all those problem i mentioned. but yea, i know i could have cut a 1.7 it was cold and the tires weren't sticky enough, but 1st gear was crazy. i couldn't see the track in front of me for a sec :D

the n20 hit around 3800 rpm.and the car jumped foward. i have a 3200 stall, but i don't know if it's a n20 conveter or not.

First, put the 75 hp jets back in.
You know that works perfectly.
The 100, I am assuming is not supplying enough fuel.
The boost a pump does not increase fuel psi, it just increases the voltage to the stock pump for high rpm's
I feel it is a worth while mod.
Tire psi sounds good, 15 psi, you might want to try 16 but hey, what is 1 pound
40 in front is fine.
You only made one pass so that might factor in.
Try it on a 75 shot, then up the jets and see the difference.
Did you have the FPSS hooked up?
I do not agree with V6stanger. Any nitrous owner should know NEVER remove the FPSS!!!!
Injectors, eh, keep the stock ones.
If you upgrade pumps go with a 255 LPH walbro or granatelli
Weather seemed decent
Your 60 ft time seems like it is all n/a
I have misalligned nozzles before and it can slightly affect the performance
When you say bog? Explain. I know what bog is, but did this happen when you hit the nitrous?
This could happen if the fuel solenoid is leaking and puddling in the intake manifold
Flashing SES light is a multiple misfire code.
Check those plugs ASAP
You could have melted an electrode off
I'm a bit fuzzy on your launch and nitrous activation.
You stall it to 1700
You launch and floor it n/a
Nitrous activates at 3800 rpm?
And you go from there?

Let me know more k?

run-related...I ran a 13.2 and had a 5.7 at the 330. Give you any ideas you probably had a 12sec timeslip in your hands....
