• First time at the track

Went to the track for the first time last friday. Had a lot of fun a definetly will be going again. Since it was my first time, I took it pretty easy, but next time I'll try to get some better times.

Run 1:
R/T... .901
60'... 2.758
330... 7.339
1/8... 10.933 @ 68.99
1000.. 13.975
1/4... 16.513 @ 89.12
Real easy off the line, then demolished the pickup who got 19.158 @ 71.51

Run 2:
R/T... 1.046
60'... 9.356
330... 13.829
1/8... 17.442 @ 68.39
1000.. 20.517
1/4... 23.111 @ 86.77
Tried launching a little too low and stalled. :D

Run 3:
R/T... 1.297
60'... 2.422
330... 6.709
1/8... 10.249 @ 69.47
1000.. 13.283
1/4... 15.823 @ 88.95
Pretty happy with this one. Had a friend in the passenger seat and got a great video. http://home.cfl.rr.com/mkaprocki/Cam...8@89_small.zip

Will have to work on the 60' times, but will get better with practice.

hehe...

yeah you need ot work on the 60' even if you have a hard time getting those down you need ot at least make your times a little more consistent

First time I took my dad's stock 2000 out I hit 17.1, 16.5, 16.3, 15.8.

YOu still have room for improvement, a 15.4 doesn't seem too out of line for you.

Try leaving as soon as you see the last yellow and those RT's will drop quite a bit!

Like Oryan02 said - You'll wanna go fast :D

Sounds like you had a great time.
This is what it is all about really.
You went there to have some fun.
Better times will come once you practice many more times down the 1/4.

Glad to hear you had fun!!!
Now, you are hooked

They let passengers ride down the track? Thats crazy. I tried that at my local track and they wouldnt let me. Do a lot of tracks do this?

Our track does (Scribner, NE) but I think you have to be running 15 seconds or slower to have a
"co-pilot"

At my local track you have to run 14.0's or slower to have a passenger. But I have taken people and been taken in cars that are just a tad quicker...I mean what is a few seconds...

hehe I after I slam into 4th gear, I look up at the signs, first my competitor(usually a v8 4th gen), then up at mine, about 75% of the time i can catch the my time, like I can see a 15.6 on clock, can't read everything though.

My track is bad too with wating in line, I have gotten 2 runs before in a night.

I show up at my track at 5:15-5:20, I am about 30-40 cars back, wait till they open the gates at 6:00 pm, I go in tech is pretty quick, and get into staging lanes and finish prepping my car.

Doing that i usually get 2-3 extra runs then if i showed up at 5:0 or 6:00 and wait in line for a nearly an hour to get thorugh tech.

I had so much fun with my first time at the track also. It was mostly cause I was ripping all over my buddies, and there Ford Probes.

Best time so far is a 16.0 @ 89mph. And I had a about a hundred pounds of my buddies Probe gear in my trunk. Still could have done better, but my reaction time was over a second.

Well I am looking forward to some spring weather here, and some tracks to open. wil lbe at Milan Dragway most friday nights this Spring/ Summer.

Guess I am still a rookie as a tuner, but I just bought K&N, Whisper CAI & Lid. I have borla cat-back system. Working on purchasing a rear end. Need a gear change and LSD.
